Slow going on priest, and wow in general. Pontifex is now 25, my best ever attempt at a priest. I still haven't downloaded the addon, and since I picked 5 quests right before I logged off, I'm going to put it off for at least one more level I guess ...

I'm surprised I got this far!

I just remembered to add I've used the LFG tool a couple of times and it's a fun way to change pace. Tanks are TERRIBLE at low levels at just about everything, they don't have the tools to compete and, at least the ones I've ran with, they are absolutely clueless too. Still, it's fun, you get a nice blue item at the end of every run, so I can see myself using the tool every 4-5 levels in Azeroth and a couple more times in Outlands and Northrend, if I get that far.

Do some battlegrounds too. Everybody loves a healer in a battleground. You'll be showered with love. And I still maintain that it's the best way to learn to heal.

That's why this is the best time to learn to use fade. You'll get plenty of practice when the tank does not hold agro on adds. I really suggest binding fade to a key and learn to use it. It will save your life.

I'll start using it then, it's more a question of everyone figthing one mob and the tanks running about with no mobs. With my small supply of mana, you can see how that can become an issue fast!!!!

I got to level 26 today. Awesome. One more level in Ashenvale, then I'm off to some other part of the map. Is it too late for Tarren Mill perhaps?

Your heals give you some agro. Wait until you actually see mobs running at you, then press fade. In most cases you will see them do an about face and run off to someone else.

In low level dungeons it's pretty common for the tank to hit one mob, 2 adds join in and start for him, then your heal causes them to look up and come at you. At that point, hitting fade will send them back to the tank.

Of course, I can see where if the mobs are beating up all the party members and not the tank, that can be an issue.

You'd be a little late to the party, but that might even be for the better.

Tarren Mill's quests are notoriously sparse and undertuned, meaning that you can pick up a quest to kill a level 30 at level 22. Hilarity ensues.

At 26 you should be able to do most of the quests without much difficulty. The early ones will be easy, but you'll quickly catch up to ones closer to your level.

I wouldn't call them sparse. If you do all the chains you can get a whole lot of exp there pretty efficiently. Especially since you're often working on more than one chain in the same place (and if you're willing to kill the dog, which I rarely am Smiley: wink). But yeah, you want to do them when they're green.

If you are still playing alliance then yes, level 26 is a bit low to go to the Hillsbrad Foothills, most of the alliance quests actually take to to the Alterac Mountains and/or Arathi Basin, which means level 30ish would be better. Still if you have been running around in Ashenvale you might have the breadcrumbs to take you to Duskwood which is a way cool zone to level in. You are a bit high for the early stuff but the lore is pretty awesome in there.

Rested EXP + no real hurry means I'm now level 28 and still in Ashenvale. Running out of quests there, so most likely will now move Pontifex around a bit. Still a good 3 levels from STV, so I guess I'll try Alterac. Leveling is still slow-ish compared to my other toons, but since I'm not in a hurry it's ok.

Woah. One month gone by already since I rolled Pontifex. He dinged 30 over the weekend, so I decided to park him in Stormwind to get a bit more rested EXP before I go to STV for a bazillion of quests. I've bought all the pages in the Green Hills of Strg ... quest so I get some free EXP going in, then ready to grind, grind, grind.

<3 STV.
It was brilliant as Beast Mastery hunter, tearing up people letf and right.
It was awesome as Smite spec Priest as well, 3 or 4 shotting people with holy fire and smite spam.
And it will be great as well for my next toon to pass there (either a protadin or a warlock)

Incredible. I went to ST by means of duskwood, where I managed to do a few quests on the way in, and I'm already level 34. I just love when levels fly by, and STV is probably the tightest leveling place in the game, at least until you get to Northrend. I DO fear leveling might take a little bit more fromnow on, hope I'm wrong (talking about the priest class and lacking firepower).

Still, two-three more levels in STV, those will go by fast I'm sure. Thank you Teacake et al for putting me on the right track specc-wise!

Ding! Level 40! I got dual specc too and specced shadow as secondary specc to try it out (first time I got this far so I have to check Shadow at 40). Still one more level in STV, then off to Tanaris or something. I'm really enjoying easy leveling, no hurries. Priest is fun so far.

Gratz, you're doing great. I see healing Zul'Farak in your future.

Since I got to 40 I've been 100% Shadow specc. It's a little boring-ish since there are not many buttons to press, but mobs do die real quickly, which is very nice considering early 40s usually drag a little (at least they seem to).

Dinged 44 over the weekend, so Outlands is now starting to dawn. Still a ways off, but by week's end I should be almost level 50.

Thinking about ditching the smithe specc in favour of a 100% healing oriented specc too.

Overall, looking good.

Weeeeeee. Lvl 51. Now I just need to survive til 53 ( hate 50-53), then sooner, way sooner than I ever expected, I'll be in Outlands. Bottom line : 15 days til Northrend. Again.

When is it you get Shadowfiend again? Shadow dps is kinda boring so far : apply dots, shadow blast, mind sear. Wish I had more stuff to do, but enemies do die real quick.

Dual spec disc and start healing a random or two per day. Be sure to pick up Penance.

Dinged 54 today. I love 54-58. You are at the top of the food-chain and it's almost like saying goodbye to old-world for the last time before Cata too. If I manage to get Pontifex to 80, I have a hunter at level 60 that recently I've been meaning to level too.

Still no shadowfiend though.

Incidentally, I've been using a bit of a wacky shadow build I guess, just picking talents that feel right, but I probably have 2/3 missplaced talent points. Would any of you kind knowledgeable souls direct me to the right, dark, path?

Outlands next week. Altogether sub-3 days played time til 60 I estimate. The fact that Pontifex is the first Alliance toon I level in 3 years has been part of the reason why I've enjoyed going through the level grind again. Feels good to have slightly different quest lines.

OMG OMG!!!!! Almost Level 57. With a bit of luck I'll be saving on shoes tomorrow evening (ie: lvl 60 and thus flying).

I've learnt the Shadow DPS playstyle a bit more and now I really try chain pull mobs checking on the mana regen buffs, makes a huge difference. Great stuff indeed.

By the way, thank you very much for the builds, that's helped too. As I suspected, I had missplaced three talent points.

Ding, 59. Once I leave "Old World" behind me it's almost , at least that's how it feels, like I've done it. That feeling, of course, wears off when it takes forever to go from 70 to 71, but ... well, I'm just happy.

You are doing great. Keep up the good work. While you're questing, queue up for a random for an extra xp boost when you get it.

Well, a week on and I'm now level 64, which is to say that I am only 4 levels away from hitting Northrend for the last time this expansion. Cool stuff.

I have yet to heal an instance since I don't really trust pug leveling groups (wrong talents, iffy gear selection, aggro flying all over the place ...) but I will give it a shot at lvl 70 or so just for the hell of it. A bit of Terokkar, a bit of Nagrand and I'm done with Outlands. Wish HFP lasted less so I could visit some other areas. As is, I always leave 3 zones untouched in Outlands, out of 7.
