I've been on hold for 20 minutes now. Gamestop. Smiley: mad

[EDIT]

Those ******* just hung up on me. As in, I'm sitting there on hold, and I hear the click, and suddenly I'm not connected anymore.

/em hops on the Gamestop hate train.

When you get to speak to someone, make them wait first. Then yell something along the lines of "SEE, YOU KNOW HOW ANNOYING THAT IS YOU LITTLE ****!?" after a bit.

Nah, you posted before I actually edited. I had the window open for a little while.

Call round two is currently at a 21 minute wait.

[EDIT]

Ironically, I didn't even need to yell at the guy for the hangup incident. After telling him I'd already called once, and they never sent the info, he just gave me the code over the phone without even asking who I was or for proof I purchased the game. Smiley: lol

And I needed my early access code for FFXIV, since they didn't give it to me when I pre-ordered. I have very little time to play during the week, so those days on the weekend are pretty much all I'm really going to have until the following weekend. And dammit, I want them.

The comments I see from people who played the original are that it's better in pretty much every way.

I've enjoyed myself in the beta I've had access to. That's all I can really say.

Also, why is it that designer stuff often looks so much better than anything I can afford? Although I'm not a big fan of the whole goth ninja/next level stuff aside from those sneakers.

I don't know about in the Netherlands, but here as long as they're at least 12 weeks old and weigh 2 lbs. you can have her spayed. I'd definitely recommend not waiting past 4 months old. Despite what some idiot vet techs who work at the Banfield Clinic in PetSmart here think... cats can totally go into heat at 6 months old and get knocked up. My first kitten's mother did it. I got into a verbal fight with someone about that. She looked at me like I was an idiot because I wanted Miranda spayed before she was six months old.

The original complaints that come to mind was that there wasn't enough to do (like nothing), it was tons of grinding, the market system wasn't enjoyable, and the class system was meh.

So they completely redesigned the game. They ended FFXIV with a giant invasion event, and reshaped the zones and world accordingly for ARR. It's more like a sequel, in that respect.

But now there are quest structures from start to finish, they added a ton of guild leves (their dungeon quest thingy), added FATE events (public events a la GW2/Rift), added a bunch of other PVE content pathways. I haven't actually looked into those too actively, because I don't like going into MMOs knowing everything. I have fun discovering stuff.

Oh, and they changed the class system (dropped one class by fusing it into Gladiator, added the Arcanist class). Classes now specialize into jobs at high levels (Glad -> Paladin, Arcanist -> Summoner or Scholar, etc.) These essentially replace the ability to slot cross-class skills (like giving a Conjurer, the main healer, stronger nukes, too) with dedicated, specialized skills for specific roles. Right now, only Arcanist has two specializations (one is support and damage, like the Arcanist, the other adds healing capabilities to create a second healing job).

It looks like it will be an interesting system. And their crafting stuff looks really interesting.

I know nothing about endgame.

That album are all things that were worn in public.

Most of those outfits also probably cost a good bit more than your or my entire wardrobe. Just the sneakers are €750 and the rest is probably a lot of equally exclusive designer stuff so yeah...

The stuff at that level of fashion isn't expected to last more than a season, if that. It's ludicrous from any remotely practical ideas regarding clothing. It's sort of a huge blow-up of current trends, cranking them to their highest points.

But, even though those fashion trends change subtly at the consumer level from season to season, when you're talking about extreme exaggeration of those features even a change to something like color palettes and sleeve length renders most of your wardrobe out of date.

It's insane, yes. But whatever, if the rich want to be absurd (or the non-rich want to make people think they're rich), I couldn't care less.

Is the idea behind Japanese Street Fashion to hide the *** of the person wearing it? Because a couple of them chicks were sporting a sweet goatee.

As far as fashion goes, everything has already been done. Some dope playing with shoes and drawing them with zippers on the side and five tongues is not creative. But like digg said, maybe in a different context, "if the rich want to be absurd (or the non-rich want to make people think they're rich), I couldn't care less."

There are certainly people who can take real happiness from that. But I doubt many industries have anywhere close to as much peer pressure as the fashion world.

Most people who attempt to dress at the very cutting edge are doing it because of the immense pressure for them to be at their very best, all the time. It has less to do with their own desires regarding style, and more to do with their desire to be noticed. And I don't mean that in a super narcissistic way (though that's true for some).

I mean that few industries are as much of an uphill battle as fashion is. Most of them are actively trying to advance through fashion culture, and being impeccable all the time has far more to do with their social defenses while they climb that ladder than it does with personal happiness in the moment. And once you have people's eyes on you, you can't stop being perfect. Because the first thing they're going to do is note every single one of your flaws. And when I say fashion culture, I don't necessarily mean actual work in the industry. I just mean the social spheres that high-level fashion is a focus of.

I'm sure some of them DO just do it for pleasure. And most of them (hopefully) don't hate it. But I doubt the fashion itself is the ends for most of them - it's the means to the end, with the end being social status.

I think if you go look at the creme de la creme of any subculture there's going to be that pressure to be the best although I think saying it's not about the fashion for most of them is a very hasty conclusion given the very minimal information.

If we're going to be talking about the type of people who wear avant garde pieces, we're going to be talking creme de la creme.

If were just talking about people with an ordinary interest in fashion, then I agree.

Even for the creme de la creme I think it's a hasty conclusion to make. I mean those same people had they grown up in America would have probably gone the way of the goth ninja which looks a whole lot less out there compared to the Japanese stuff.

I don't miss it at all. More than once we gave the last couple of slots in our raid (we were a 10-man raid with like 7-8 regulars) away to decent people who didn't have the gearscore yet, or not on their particular alt. Nothing like having someone thank you for helping them get an achievement "so now I can actually pug something!" While I'm sitting there shaking my head at how this person, who didn't cause a single problem all night, couldn't get into a group.

Yeah, don't miss that side of WoW at all.

The only fun PuG raids I've done were the wintergrasp raids led by my old GM. He usually did 6 or so in a row because he had too many alts so those were a frenzy of relogging for everyone as they were first come first serve and usually half or a little over half would be filled with just really good raiders (people from the world top 10 guild on the server and such) the lucky random people in that raid were almost always amazed at how their dps was so high and they were still at the bottom of the charts.

The quality difference between the f1.4 and the f1.8 is pretty massive. Of course the f1.8 is only a third of the price but it's also made out of plastic instead of metal, the Nikon one has/had a light flaw at a high f numbers, they're very slow to focus (and loud) but then again, it's a $100 lens and nothing else comes close to that.
