Spiders aren't going to hurt?

Because there are brown recluses EVERYWHERE in Denmark.
As far as I am aware, there are no dangerous spiders in Denmark and any spider that might cause some damage you'll have to find first, then drive it into a corner and stick a bodypart into it's biting range before it'll bite.

Honestly, being scared of spiders in Denmark does not make sense.

We've got black widows here.

And the not making sense part is what makes arachnophobia a phobia.

Quote:
a persistent, irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it.

We've got 500 species of spiders here.

Protip: Don't look up this kind of info on Wikipedia. People like to put giant pictures of spiders up on that site.

I don't know if there are any dangerous spiders in Finland.
I'm not arachnophobic, but I don't like spiders either

I think I'm going to have to dance this weekend, and I'm afraid I suck at it.

The conversations here move too quickly.

On McDonalds: In economics, there's this index called the "Big Mac index". Basically, the pricing of a Big Mac is a fairly accurate measure of a country's purchasing power. Since economic indices are totally awesome, I have an interest in this. I think I'd actually quite enjoy studying for an economics degree... mmh. Don't get distracted from chemistry too much.

Æth, I think you should try Bad Elf (or some variants thereof) if you can get a hold of it. Also possibly Bath Ales.

Ahum. I started Urdu lessons yesterday! Their alphabet is far too long.

Also, seriously. I'm ... I don't know if I should call it famous or infamous. I seem to have become everyone's pet heathen at uni, but I don't know if that's good or bad. Eugh.

I've decided that I will try and locate a Sikh to discuss when the best time to go to their temple is next Wednesday.

I don't think they have a ****. You just get reborn as a stone. While still believing in Allah. Or something of that sort. Sikhism confuses me.

I need to go to their temple to clear up the confusion. Then, as soon as I make it to Pakistan, I'm going to the temple in Lahore to get in touch with Guru Nanak's spirit or something.

Explanation: Guru Nanak was the dude who founded the Sikh religion. He was cool. Like a Punjabi, bearded version of me. With a turban. He retired into some farming commune when he was old.

Basically geographically the area where half the important Sikh pilgrimage places are is right on the border of India and Pakistan. In the Punjab (but both halves of it). Okay.
So for example Kartarpur (the place where he retired) is actually in Pakistan, but because of the fact that most Sikhs are in India they've actually constructed an "independent" corridor to the village (about 3km from the border, iirc) so the Indians can do their pilgrimage.

Lahore is the capital of the Punjab and kind of further into Pakistan. ~10m people city. There's a temple there where Guru Nanak touched a stone and left his handprint, except this handprint fits every hand. Ever. Like, even baby hands. So if I'm in Lahore anyway, I'll go there and check out this miracle to see if it's a miracle.
There's another Sikh miracle that's open to the public, but that's a bit farther inland in India, so I might check it out next summer.

I just like random pilgrimages. I really want to go to Jerusalem and Mecca, but Israel and Saudi Arabia are at the very bottom of my list of countries I want to visit.
