What's even worse though, is that because her brother quite clearly OD'd on purpose, and other circumstances that happened right before he died, she blames herself for his death. Which I think is probably the biggest issue for her right now. And really, as a friend there's not a whole lot you can do to help there except emphatically stress that it wasn't her fault and she did the best that she could. She needs to go to a counselor to work on all this stuff to really get help. I don't know if she will or not, but I wasn't going to suggest it while we were talking in a loud bar while she intoxicated. She did say that just telling me everything was a huge relief though, and that I now know more about her than anyone else at work. I don't know why she picked me to unload on, but I do feel honored, in a way.

Also, sorry if my post was a bit off-current-topic. Was gone a week and came back to 110 new posts. I just went with the first thing I had a YouTube link ready for.

What're you guys doing for New Year?

I haven't had a good piece of cheese in ages. No pun intended. I love some nice aged parmesan reggiano, or imported aged provolone. With a hunk of crusty bread (what we call Italian Bread here in the New York area, although what we call French Bread would suffice) and some red wine or a cold beer.

I learned a bit about beer on reddit the other day, I had no idea there were so many variables to control in the process of making beer. There are so few ingredients, with so many different ways to use them. And the chemistry! Yeast and short versus long-chained sugars. gah! Organic Chem was soo long ago.

Getting that alcohol into the blood for maximum enjoyment of cigar and fireworks and The Party later on. Love that movie, but it's best if you're slightly intoxicated.

Beer is such a wonderfully versatile drink, from the smoked meat of a rauch beer to the vinous acidity and fruit of a Flanders old brown or the aggressive pine and tropical fruit of an IPA. And all of that with just those few ingredients.

RAW's a dick, but he's our dick. Also, My keyboard broke last night, going from mechanical to non mechanical makes typing really hard. At least I can get rid of Razer all together and buy the keyboard I've been wanting for too long.

Interesting keyboard. Ignoring the lack of labels on the keys (I'm not looking at the keys anyway, so I don't care if they're labeled or not), I like the color. I don't like the thing on the right side with the logo on it, though.

That's exactly the reason I love the sleek laptop type keyboards and absolutely can't stand the big clunky keys, nevermind a mechanical keyboard.

I wish my work involved banging on a keyboard. I'm forced to bang on a desk...
