Teaching literature is more fun than grammar too, which is what I'm really interested in. If you get people interested in reading, learning how to spell and how to write well begins to come naturally. Worked for me anyways.
Reading is where I learned most of my English. I started reading Enlish at 5 years old, at least, I still have a dinosaur book in English that I got way back then. I couldn't actually read or understand much aside from numbers and words that looked like Dutch words but I still pretended to read the whole book
