Depends on what kind of protection you use, the pill alone with typical use has a failure rate of something like 15% I think so 2 kinds in 2.5 years is a small chance but certainly not impossible.

Edit: On a sidenote: OOMPH, attack speed nerf hurts bad. I lost over 3.5k dps and I barely had any extra attack speed.

Yeah, when I say birth control, I'm talking about the pill. If used correctly, it has a 0.1% chance of failure. Condoms have a 3% chance of failure if used correctly.

Both of my kids were also conceived in spite of birth control. Nothing is 100%.
As for cars, not having to follow a public transit schedule gives you the freedom to plan your activites when it's convenient for you, and not when it's convenient for the bus/train/subway stops. I didn't even get my license until I was 21; prior to that I walked, rode my bike, or caught a bus. I'm not going to pretend that not having a car to maintain somehow made me more free, though.

You should be careful having an IUD while being poly Kali. They increase the risk of contracting an STD, which is part of the reason I got rid of mine. Sucks too, because they're really convenient.

I love my car and couldn't live without it. Public transport is pretty ordinary around here unless you live on the main road. I live up the mountain from the city, so I could probably walk to work in about an hour or so but coming home would take a week or so to get home from the hospital after my heart attack.
Besides we drive 90mins to Sydney every fortnight or so to go see the opera or a symphony (I refuse to go to the ballet as I sleep much better at home than I do at the Opera House). Having to use public transport would be impossible.

Honestly, either way, it's not like there's much of an alternative. I got it initially as emergency contraception (a couple weeks after my old one malfunctioned) because I couldn't take the morning after pill. Well, I did take that, too, but with a ~40% failure rate (liver enzymes, blah) it wasn't really very useful. There's always something up with my liver... or too often to go for a different mode of contraception. I mean, there was a period where it was okay, but I couldn't take it now (not that I need to in Pakistan) and that just happens periodically. A lot of common medications render the pill useless.

Okay, apparently I was wrong. It's something I'd heard about from my poly friends in Eugene, AND my sister was telling me about her friend who is promiscuous being told by her doctor that she shouldn't get an IUD because of the increased risk of STD infection. So that's a relief. Maybe I'll get the Mirena after all.

And, the FWB and I are back on... seems the girl he was breaking up with me for only wants a FWB situation as well, not a relationship. And then he waits three days to tell me because he thought it was too late.
