Bluh. Why am I even reading this thread? I don't have time for this, I have my first final in 24 hours!

So you're going to be procrastinating for the next 23 hours and 55 minutes?

What are you talking about? I study calculus by playing Dota 2. Procrastinating, psh.

Yeah, I'm somewhere in the low to mid 20's. It's gotten to be too much of a chore at this point to actually sit down and count everyone. I have a friend who says she's in the 100's and I have a male friend who is getting close to 40 who claims his is in the thousands. I think he's probably exaggerating, but he DOES have some really good stories to tell, so who knows.

And yeah, all the guys that I've actually paid attention to, have either had beige or pink junks. I've never seen an actual white one. That would be kinda scary.

I think that's a good definition Theo. Not my preferred one of course, as I like to use it as a compliment, but I think it's fair just the same. Despite the amount of lovers I've had in the last couple years, I'm actually quite picky. All the guys I've either dated or slept with in that time frame have been intelligent, feminist, liberal nerds. Smiley: grin I actually had this guy in town on OKC send me a message the other day, wanting to get together. Our match rating was around 50% and we both have answered a lot of questions. This guy is sexist, anti-abortion, thinks that flag burning should be illegal, but considers himself liberal. I was like Smiley: confused I know there's more to being liberal than being feminist friendly, but sh*t... And I've never understood the whole obsession with the flag. If it's expected, I'll stand up out of respect and all, but it's just a piece of cloth. If people want to burn it, I say let them.

Yeah, I don't really care to exaggerate (and in some cases I actually give a lower number). I find it funny when guys try to judge their worth by how many women they sleep with; it's really, really rare that you have great sex with someone you just met as opposed to someone you've been in a relationship with for a while (i.e. have been sleeping with for a while).

A female friend (different one than the überslut) was talking to a female acquaintance of ours when we were out recently and was moaning and complaining that a guy she just met and hooked up with sucked in bed and I had to put my two cents in: "you literally have only known him for a few weeks and this was your first time sleeping with you. You're ridiculously hot and that intimidates a lot of guys. You're not going to get his A-game the first time."

It's like people expect sex with a near-stranger to be like you see on TV or in the movies: amazing, crazy, mind-blowing sex. But that very rarely happens.

Anyway, story for the day.

I taught myself calc from my younger brother's AP book and tested out of all of math. That's what the pros do.

I took AP Calc in high school. Got a 3 on the exam, so it didn't count as a math credit later, but I placed into Calc. At Rutgers, that means they axe one of your math requirements.

Logic fulfilled my other requirement. Smiley: lol

I've just met people who took calc purely because they placed into it, without any intention of going into a field it's needed for. It just saps the fun out of their semester for no reason. Now, I liked calc. It actually finally gave me a real meaningful use for all the other crap I learned in school. But there's no reason to take it if you don't intend to use it or enjoy it. You'll probably never find yourself in a situation where you need to calculate the distance you've traveled from the rate of change to your velocity over time.

Comp Sci, actually. So it's required.

That said, I'm planning to be an attorney in the long run, so the Comp Sci degree is honestly just kind of a filler to get me through undergrad. I would take a Pre Law major, but my school doesn't have that, and Poli Sci would be interesting, but not enough to make me risk my future on it. The thing with Comp Sci is that further down the road, if something happens or I change my mind about law school, I can always fall back on my major for a job. They're always hiring in that field.

And your actual major really doesn't matter for most law schools. I knew a lawyer who was a music major before she went to law school.

I can't comment on how smaller schools handle it, but universities rarely have many specific required courses. Here, we have areas in which you need to do coursework. Rutgers general requirements include 2 math, 3 writing intensive courses (and expository writing if you don't have an AP credit, which I did Smiley: grin), diversity/global awareness courses, humanities, and 2 sciences. Then your major takes about 12 classes on top of that. For some programs, these are specific (like Organic Chem, Bio, Physics, etc.), but most programs require coursework in fields that are covered by many classes. My philosophy degree, for instance, had a logic requirement that could have been fulfilled by 4-5 different classes, Epistemology, Ancient Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, etc. No specific courses in those areas, just had to be concerned with them.

My history degree was the same way, but they didn't even have something as specific as logic.

Yeah, it's pretty dependent on your school and the major you pick. At my school, you have to take 2 years of a foreign language if you're going for a Bachelor of Arts, or up to a certain level of math if you're going for a B. of Science. You also have to take two specific writing classes, both of which ended up being a huge waste of time. For your general ed requirements, you have to take 4 social sciences, 4 arts and letters, and 4 science. You also have to take 2 or 3 multicultural classes of some sort. For the gen ed requirements though, there's a lot of wiggle room, and you have the ability to knock out two requirements from one class. Say if you took a Gender Studies class, that would apply towards your A&L requirement as well as the multicultural one. Oh, and you also have to take classes from 2 different departments for each of the three core gen ed requirements. For example, my science requirements were fulfilled with Bio 101 and 102 from my AP Biology class, and then I took an intro to Chem class through my local community college, and then an anthropology class on human sexuality. It counted as science because we had to go over genetics, which is part of biology.

Then for my English degree, there are three core lower division classes I have to take. Intro to the English major, which are ENG 220, 221, and 222. Then you have to take one Shakespeare class, another lower division English or Humanities class. For the upper division requirements, we have to take one theory class, one ethnic/women's lit class, and one class each from three different time periods: Pre 1500, 1501 to 1769, and 1769 to present. Then we have two upper division English electives, so for those we can take whatever the hell we want.

I can see the perks of only having to take the classes you need for your degree, but I also like the general ed requirement thing. It makes us more well rounded. That way you don't get business people who know nothing about history or literature or science. Or English people who know nothing of philosophy or science.

To a point. While all music can technically be described by math, music is still much more than just that. You could make the same argument about art being merely an application of math, but an integral isn't the same as the Mona Lisa.

In German, organic food is called Bio for short but properly "biologisch dynamisch" - biological dynamic. Like, what does that even mean? It's nearly as bad as the English.

I find drycleaners etc. using "organic solvents" amusing. There aren't that many inorganic solvents...

Also, I've somehow been having the most mind-blowing amazing sex ever for the past 5 days with a guy I met on reddit a few weeks ago. And I was abstinent since September (apart from 2 weekends of making out and giving one handjob at one point).
