I'm confused as to what's going on, but felt it necessary to mention that both of those pictures got two thumbs up from me.

That reminds me. Sony debuted a 3D TV that, instead of using split-screen, would display two full-screen images that the glasses would filter out, so each player only saw their own. That's... crazy.

Considering Allah had an acute case of divinity some eons ago, I don't really think he cares.

And Alla doesn't either, he's no longer a part of the business. Smiley: frown

I'll usually make two or three at work and email them to myself, then upload them when I go home and everyone else is asleep because damned if I can ever sleep.

I think Æth is doing finals-y stuff, maybe? Or travelling?

I do know his Internets at home are horrible.

Did see him a couple of weeks ago, and he seemed fine. I hope my curry wasn't poisonous, but if it was he was certainly the only one affected.

Also, I actually ... hmm. I'm all for gender equality, but the system I've observed in Pakistani families is actually quite nice.

Generally, many Pakistani women work full-time, and are always expected to have the primary role in childcare, but they are not expected to be the family's breadwinner. Their earnings are for what they want to buy for themselves (or give more to charity than is expected anyway), while the man's wage is meant for providing for the whole family as well as giving the woman an (additional) allowance to spend on pretty things. At the same time (and I have seen this in action), the father of the family and men in general don't really have that much to say at home.
I think this works out pretty well for everyone in heteronormative* relationships. Of course, I usually don't tend to go for those, but I wouldn't mind a system like that if I ended up in a monogamous relationship with a man that includes children at some point.

Well, I can't deny that it would be more comfortable for me to not be the primary bread winner. I'm honestly a bit afraid of the pressure. I still want my contribution to matter though, and to be respected by my partner. I'm not saying it isn't like that in Pakistani families, I don't know anything about them, but that's certainly not the stereotype. =x

I'd always threaten ex-Ms Horsemouth that I'd stay at home and let make her work. She did not approve.

Well, I wouldn't want to make way more or way less than my partner. I'd prefer us to be roughly equal.

I feel like one of the problems with wages in relationships is often an inflated sense of value for the person making more. In most families, the man of the house is the higher paid (although there is a large population in which this is not the case). I feel like many people probably internalize that to think that they don't need to work as much elsewhere in the partnership.

The problem, of course, is that you are essentially punishing your partner for not making more money, and assuming they are working full-time as well, that's REALLY unfair. Because, realistically, you are both probably working just as hard--we largely don't live in a world where harder jobs get higher wages.

And it becomes an even worse problem in relationships where one person works a blue collar job and the other is a white collar worker...

BAH at money matters, I say. BAH, BAH!

In any case, though, I'd hate to be the only breadwinner. THAT is too much stress for me.
