All o' y'all saying FF XII or FF IX were your first FF game... makes me feel old. I still remember playing the original FF on my NES, FF IV and VI being FF II and FF III.

FF: Good game, favorite party was probably Fighter, Red Mage, White Mage, Black Mage.

FF II, III, V: Got as part of a FF anthology/collection, but I don't really remember enough about them.

FF IV: Loved it.

FF VI: Also loved it. My favorite characters were Edgar, then Sabin, then probably Cyan and Terra.

FF VII: I wasn't a huge fan of the direction they took starting with FF VII, where it didn't matter what characters you picked, every character could use whatever materia and thus whatever abilities you wanted them to have. All the side quests were fun, but once you got KotR, W-Summon, and Mime boss fights were a joke. (Except Emerald and Ruby weapon).

FF VIII: Liked the story, but the way you could have over-powered characters half-way through the first disc made the game way too easy. I did like that Seifer and Squall's cards were exact mirrors.

FF IX: Monkey boy and Steiner made the game really, REALLY hard for me to play. I just didn't enjoy it that much.

FF X: Tidus's character and Yuna's voice acting were awful, but blitz ball was an interesting pass time.

FF X-2: Final Fantasy Dress-up Dolls. Played less than an hour of it before I took it back to Game Stop and traded it for something else.

FF XI: My 3rd or 4th MMO, depending on what you want to count. Really grindy by WoW standards, and at the time soloing was pretty much impossible. Depending on play time, it would take most of a year to get to level cap; with only a couple exceptions, the CD on most of your abilities was measured in minutes; and you lost exp when you died.

FF XII: Not bad, but nothing terribly memorable about it. I did name my Alliance pally Ashelia and made a warrior I named Basch.

FF XIII: Too linear, but had a decent story. I liked Lightning, Snow, and Sahz, Hope made me want to punch kittens.

FF XIV: From what I've seen, FF XIV tried to be different just for the sake of being different. It's like they catered to small portion of the FFXI player base that's rabidly opposed to WoW and any game like it, and hoped that name recognition alone would sell their game.

Never played Crystal Chronicles, loved FF Tactics, FF Adventure on the Gameboy was one of my favorite GB games, but it was more Zelda than FF. Kingdom Hearts was one of my favorite games of all time, and KH II was even better.

It's funny, there's something about the KH series that makes you want to hate it, desperately. But I can't help myself. I absolutely love it.

Don't think I said anything about Sazh's clothes being stereotypical. They didn't really stand out in anyway. You do make some valid points though Digg, it could have been way worse. I'm curious though, why do you think Hope was a racist character?

The only reason FFIX was my first RPG was because my parents didn't let me have a video game console while I was growing up. When I was 18 one of my friends introduced me to FF games, and IX happened to be the one she chose to have me play first. X was already out at that point, and I think XI came out a year later or so. So for my high school graduation present, I asked my godmother for a PS2. =x She wasn't overly thrilled with the idea (especially since she knew my mom would be ticked lol) but she was the one who asked what I wanted and didn't lay down any specific rules about what I could have, so being a typical teenager I asked for something I couldn't afford and knew my parents would never get me lol.

Just got in to my parents' house. One of the things I really hate about this town, is how early it shuts down. I got here about 30 minutes ago or so and I really wanted to go for a walk on the beach. All of the beaches in town are gated off. -.- I guess I'll have to wait and do it tomorrow, but there's something really nice about going for a walk on the beach at night when the moon is out.

What the fuck, are you serious?

You mainland people and your silly restricted beaches.

All the ones close to city limits are yeah. I don't think the one a couple miles north would have been gated off, but I didn't feel like turning around and driving another 10 minutes. Brookings is a small retirement/touristy town so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

Hawaii has public right of way to all beaches, everywhere in the state. Maybe a few exceptions but is military based or cause on one the two islands people can't go to unless invited.

Lubky *******. If you guys didn't have such high prices on **** and hurricanes (or is it typhoones?) I would so move there. Well, if I could afford it. Don't mind me, I've just been drinking for the last hour or so...

We don't get hurricanes or typhoons normally. They usually miss the islands.

Back in 06 it did rain for 40 days and nights straight though. That was crazy.

I think she's thinking of monsoons, not typhoons. Hawaii's natural disaster is that fact that, all the islands are basically active volcanoes. Not sure how active they still are, but I'm sure Horse could tell ya.

I assume you guys call it a monsoon season like we do? Ours is July - late August, 40/60 days of rain usually. And that's 90% of our annual rainfall.
Oh, and VI was the best.
And I haven't ever been here in this thread.
And StateofDPS doesn't apply to 4.1+.
And Vegemite is one HELLA salty / tart substance.

We don;t have monsoons or typhoons. The volcano is a single puka in the earth that leaks out lava. It is making Lōʻihi, which will be a new island some day.

The lava is still on big island so they have volcano. Just at muana kea and mauna loa for the most part. The other ones are either far or from the lava spot or inactive for long time.

Back when I was still with ex-baby girl we went Big Island and saw Halemaumau. The land was alive there. You could feel the mana, it was everywhere.

Also went Kalapana, could see the lava coming out as it went ocean. Pictures can never do it justice. Watching the lava come out and go ocean... Was strong there. Plus that whole part Big Island is like that little bit anyway. Mana very strong in those parts.

When we was up Halemaumau, had plenty people would leave stuff for Pele, was all kine stuff. Food, little things, w/e. You go you feel the need to leave something for her, cause she is realer than you there.

The aina there is more alive than a lot of people I know. It changes you.

You are over simplifying Monsoons. We have a rainy season but we don't have Monsoons.

I like how the word "to" doesn't exist in Horse's vocabulary when he's drunk. :P

Also, about why Hope is racist... He's pretty much the embodiment of EVERY stereotype for rich white males. From the daddy issues down to the ascot. Seriously, until you reach the second half of the game, his personality can be completely summed up with his race and economic status.

Pro tip: You cannot be racist against people in power, i.e. rich white males. Sure it can be offensive, and I get that, but it can't be racist. Racism is about discriminating against people who are oppressed and by definition, rich white males are not oppressed.

I love my mother, but her love for mornings is insane. She woke me up at 8:30, so I"ve had 3.5 hours of sleep. She said that was sleeping in. On a Saturday. >.<

I was up till 2 with the little one, and then couldn't get my sorry butt out of bed to get to work at 7:30, so I got here at 9:30 instead. Now I'm struggling to get a whole days work done in less time. I'm wishing I lived in one of those countries that actually gives people paid leave when they have kids.

Also, don't take lava rock. Is bad mojo.

My instinct would have been to kick the person in the face. Sorry mom, but you should have known better...

And there's no property of racism that demands oppression, at all. That's just simply not part of the definition. If my boss was black, I could easily still be racist towards him, despite the fact that he's in a place of power over me. Racism is entirely a social structure, and functions across socio-economic systems. There are plenty of people that are hella racist regarding Asians. But we CERTAINLY aren't in a position where we are oppressing them.

I'm happy to agree that the danger of racism is much greater when it is directed towards a group capable of being oppressed (whether they are or not). But you can oppress them without being racist, and you can be racist towards them without oppressing them.
