If you actually need to explain a fight to your raiders you have bad raiders. Other than that, the less words you need the better.
The most common problem with raid leaders are the 15 minute monologues. A good RL explains the fight in 5 words and shouts at people @#%^ing up. The RL should also be the best player in the group.

Sinestra P1:
Balls of doom that cut.
Sinestra P2:
Burn Sinestra, eggs and adds.
Sinestra P3:
P1 with Red Bull.

That was the actual explanation I got yesterday from my new RL. I thought it was awesome. We got to phase 2 in 3 attempts.
Phase 2 we need to adjust, still. People are taking too much time to burn the eggs and not reliably "interrupting" adds. I hate to not be able to use my interrupt.

That's how it should be. People should have seen videos and know the fight already. And the less you talk the more people remember from what you said.

Good riddance to drama llamas, a group is better off without them in the long run IMO. But that's easy to say not knowing any of the details of what went on of course. I'd say chin up, eyes forward and things will get better and such, but it seems like things are working out well for you already; which is awesome. Smiley: grin

Also, losing a raid group isn't all bad. I would have never started my Warlock if loot drama hadn't broken up my raid group in Ulduar.

#$%^ing Spark of Hope...

Well, it looks like the two healers are going to end up in the new raid group as well. I don't want to jump to conclusions and call them drama llamas... I don't get why they were upset by what our raid leader said, but I'm sure they have their reasons. Relatively speaking, I'm still pretty new to the guild having only been in it since October. A lot of these guys have known each other since BC. It's quite possible there's some old history there that's behind this that I just don't know about. They're good guys and they're good healers.

Having to rebuild a healing team from scratch isn't fun, neither is going backwards in progression while a new team slowly learns how to work with each other.

What sucks is that they now have to rebuild the raid group after the healers quit... and the new group contains those healers. Had they never had a fit in the first place, it wouldn't have been a problem.

Hell, if you are pissed off, instead of rage quitting, tell them you are taking the week off to consider whether or not you want to remain in the group. Don't be a selfish loser...

Well, they did wait about a week or so before they decided to quit. Would have been nice if they had actually said something to the raid leader about it though. They're a couple, and it really was just one of them that got upset I guess. They just both declined the calendar invite for this weekend's raid, and when the RL talked to one of them, his response was "Well, he got upset with what you posted in that thread about the different raid groups."

It's aggravating to be sure, but it's not the first time we've had someone quit over something stupid. Maybe he just inspires that in people, I have no idea. I think he's an awesome guy, but I also am a lot less temperamental and more likely to like people I guess. We just have to find a new tank and a few other DPS I guess. The guy who is picking things up didn't invite everyone that was in the raid group previously, which I find odd but oh well. It's a weird situation all around.

And apparently I lack the veins to donate plasma... whatever the **** that means. So no $75 a week from that... Going to have to come up with another way to make some cash on the side until I get a job.

Okay, checking wowprogress gave me a bit of an ego boost in regards to how well my toons are geared. =x Proudmoore is considered to be a pretty good server (ranked 12th out of the US servers) for raiding and my priest is tied for 44th with 13 other people. That seems kinda sad, especially since I'm only ilvl 359. I have no heroic gear at all, and there's only 43 priests on my server that are better geared than me. Willow is in the same boat. She's ranked 43rd, tied with 15 other people and the same gear level.

Even better, Pop is ranked 10th best geared for Horde players. =x

Why'd you transfer servers Brisin?

Being about a hundred posts from being number eleven may have something to do with mine.

Why'd you transfer servers Brisin?

Several reasons, really.

TL;DR: I got tired of social/casual dramas and wanted to try and be in a hardcore guild before deciding to quit.

Long explanation: I've been playing this game since mid-tBC and been in a casual guild. We did T6, but I never killed Illidan, only got till Council. Cleared all the rest, though after the nerfs.
Same thing happened with WotLK, though I did quit from february till later november because of time constraints.

The fact that the guild had a core of people that I really liked and actually knew some of them iRL and consider myself friend and the fact that something like 10/12 people actually knew how to play, made me stick around with them and not really worry myself with the fact that we had to carry another 10 people, had to wait for nerfs to actually kill the bosses that needed a bit of thinking, etc. Although we could try and kill bosses on 10 man during WotLK, since the guild was casual, no one actually cared to raid more than 2 days/week.

Cata came and I tried to actually pick those 10 people and make a more hardcore group. It worked for a while. In 2 months of raiding (we started late, around late february) we were sitting 9/12 normal and farming a bit of content to get geared.
Things were fine, but, then, we started having problems. The guild was still casual and the fact that we were a more hardcore group (though not really hardcore, only 3 days of raiding, 3 hours everyday) and more competent of the rest of the guild, problems started showing. People were jealous, wanted to participate in the raid group, the guild leader wanted us to lead 25 raids to get and integrate (is this word right? it's "integrar" in portuguese) people in the guild and we did not wanted to. But some of the raiders in our group were actually officers, so the guild leader started to show them that they needed to act accordingly with the guild moto, wich was to be casual and what not.
So, **** hit the fan, people started leaving for different guilds and the guild is kinda falling appart. After 3 or 4 people left, I decided it was the time for me to leave to. I just couldnt decide myself if I wanted to quit for good or to look something else to do. In the end, I decided to apply to a hardcore and competent guild (the one I am is top 300 US) and they actually liked my application. Yesterday was the my first day raiding with them and they are trying Sinestra and they decided to bring me along to see if I was full of **** or if I could hold my stuff in hard bosses. I think I fared well, though I did fail once or twice.
They do run 4 days/week but in my application I said I would be able to run only 3 days/week. More than that, my girlfriend leaves me, and rightfully so.

I still talk to a lot of people in the old guild, still am friend with some people there and my alt is still there. But I dont like dramas and what they had to offer wasnt compelling anymore to me.

Damn, can't say I blame you for that. My raid group is only once a week for 4-5 hours, and we're at 10/12 having finally gotten Cho'gall down last week before **** hit the fan. I hope you have more fun in your new guild!

Sadly for me, work has been a lot busier, so I don't have the same opportunity to post. Ah well, I'm not close to any relevant rank anyway.

Hope so too.
In the end, I still think I will quit wow late this year. But, who knows, maybe Blizzard actually surprise me with something new in WoW.
