Lol, the Asylum isn't so bad. As long as you can ignore gbaji and varus, that is.

Yeah, I've lost interest in the health care debate already. I don't know why, but I tend to lose interest in debating subjects with people once I can see clearly that I'm not going to change their mind. What's the point?

I love that place...the asylum. Gbaji and Varus are epic.

gbaji's the reason I'm going to need blood pressure medicine before I'm thirty. >.<

And honestly, my problem is that I'm just tired of American politics. Not so much because POLITICS are different elsewhere, but because the conservative base in the US is so much worse than the conservatives in so many other developed nations. And I'm just way too liberal to be able to deal with them (both economically and socially).

Whenever I see a voters map of the US my first thought is always that I wish the northeast could just secede... >.<

Meh, I've pretty much narrowed down my future plans to living in Massachusetts/Vermont or moving to Europe. At least then I'm guaranteed my state rights if I stay in the US... assuming Republicans don't manage to pass a gay marriage ban.

Yeah, I'm right there with you Digg. I kind of wish we would have just let the Confederacy go on its merry way during the Civil War. Then the south could have its theocracy that it seems to want so badly, and the rest of us can live in a real constitutional republic. I'd be so much more at home in France or another socialist leaning country.

Even though the party I was going to go to tonight was cancelled, I just got a phone call from one of my friends that was going to go, and we're going to go out to a bar in a little bit. Woo hoo!

US politics are silly. They make our politics look trivial in comparison.

Nope. It means that Europe gets max dps by just auto-attacking and the US needs to JOHN F*CKING MADDEN to do half that.

I'll believe that once I see your long-form birth certificate.

On another note (and since I refuse to double-post), my "all-nighter" didn't quite work out as planned. I fell asleep on the floor at around 1:30am and woke up at 6:00am. >.<

On the plus side, at least I got plenty of birthday wishes today from friends. :D

You should come to Oregon. They say it's like Gore won and Bush/Cheney never happened. Smiley: grin

TBH both sides of the political spectrum tend to bother me; mainly because the bickering tends to not accomplish things. Though I suppose I'm one of those pragmatic people who tends to see good in both sides and lots of grey. Live and let live I say; you can keep your guns and your gay marriage. *shrugs*

Conservatives tend to bother me more often though; at least most liberals I know seem to have a concept of 'different people can be different' and can tolerate and accept that. That and I'm tired of hearing that global warming isn't happening. Smiley: rolleyes

Yeah, Dave will never be in the top 250 if he keeps that up.

I should really be going to bed, since I have work in the morning...

Olive oil... curry... hmm.

I don't know. I wouldn't opt for pasta in a dish that would work just as well with rice, but that's just me.

My boyfriend likes to put garam masala on pasta lately. I'd rather just go with pepper and chili and a little butter in that scenario myself. I've actually got a roommate who only eats his curry with pasta or naan, and we don't really make naan when we cook curry. I think it's weird.
You can use butter or ghee if you want to be more authentic, but I really like olive oil and use it for most of my cooking.

Fundamentally it's a cheese sauce, I disagree that it would work just as well with rice. I mean, I just gave a recipe for a cool sauce I came up with a couple weeks ago playing around. Put it on whatever you want.

That's only if you live in one of the more urban areas. I grew up in a small town, and people are so freaking closed minded there.

Oh, and I'm tipsy from celebrating the end of the world! Wheee!

Is this rapture nonsense being believed in other countries too, or is it purely American stupidity?

As far as I can tell in the UK, it's mostly people having an excuse to mock something, and just taking a day to get pished/ have fun. I'm curious, is the same guy that started this ******** the same guy that was burning the Quran a few months ago?

Personally, I find it hilarious. The idea of heaven or hell is absurd. I don't see why people need to believe in some supernatural being to find peace.

I don't know if it's believed or not, but they know about it. There was an earthquake shortly after 6pm in the Christmas Islands, but New Zealand and China haven't been destroyed.

I don't see why people need not to believe it either. To each his own I suppose. As long as one's beliefs aren't hurting anyone else, I'm ok with them. To be honest, I think that all religions (or lack of religions) are just differing paths to the same place, whatever that place is.

I can't think of anything I hate more than religion. What's wrong with believing that once you die, you get shoved in the ground in a box and rot, or you get cremated? It's a perfectly logical assumption, because you won't know if there is an afterlife until you get there.

Although, more so than any other religion, Catholicism makes me sick. Shuffling priests around to make sure they aren't caught as being child molesters is despicable.

I don't think so, but he also said the rapture was happening in the 90s.

What I find hilarious is that there are people who have been quitting their jobs and giving away all their money and possessions because they think they won't need them after tonight.

Not only is the obvious part hilarious, but then you remember that they are giving them away because they think the rapture is coming. If that's true, NO ONE will need their stuff.

Of course, many have just given all their cash to fund the advertising campaign for this crap...

Not wanting to revert the conversation, but my friend just mentioned something that's probably true. If the guy that told the world the world was going to end today wasn't a Christian, he would have been put in an Asylum.

Also, Fish Tacos sounds like a Euphemism.

LOL.

Though, to be fair, from the point of view of an atheist... a lot of theists should be in asylums.

I mean, Christians worship a 2k year old zombie who is trying to get people to eat his body and drink his blood. If it wasn't "normal" that would certainly be a highly questionable activity.

Hindus have a god who regularly has himself pushed out of unsuspecting vaginas so that he can terrify his mother by showing her the universe in his mouth. And they have a lot of arms--way too many to actually be able to get sh*t done.

Buddhists just don't think there is anything (which is probably the most believable of them all).
