Yeah, I'm just messing with ya.

I rarely use my Wowhead and Torhead accounts, though, because both have an annoying tendency to log me out randomly. I haven't had to log on to this site in a year or something like that, but Wowhead and Torhead both log me out after a couple of days. It's super annoying. Because of annoying pop-under adverts, I installed AdBlock, though, so now I don't really care (except that I don't contribute to either site, despite using both regularly).

I'd use a WoWhead account if I still played WoW at least semi-seriously.

I dunno though, it's just too much of the same thing now: F-2-4-R-C-3-X-wait-F2-wait-2-dead, then repeat ad nauseam. Not sure I can even suffer 5 levels of that to follow what's a semi-interesting story. That and I think the Jade Forest makes me claustrophobic or something.

4 hours of commuting a day is going to get really old, really fast.

[EDIT]

In other news, I'm suddenly finding LOTRO shockingly entertaining. I probably won't make any long term investment of it, but if you can look past the dated graphics it isn't terrible.

Plus, I have a soft spot for Bard classes. More games REALLY need to implement them. For that matter, more games need to allow for full-support builds again, because some of us actually enjoyed that play style.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. You see this on Reddit Aeth?

"Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag confirmed by Ubisoft, has 60 minutes exclusive gameplay on PS3"

Also, am I becoming old school because I still play games on my PC? I don't want to play games on my TV. As it is, I have a hard time getting off my chair and jumping on the treadmill for a bit. If I play on the TV I'll be in the recliner and never get up to exercise.

Not to mention the expense of buying a Kegerator and hiring a nurse to come check the foley once a day.

I don't know how to do a search for something in a single thread, and then sort the list by date. Searching for "Aethien" in this thread returns 2,169 entries. The first page of that is 5/13/11 through 11/10/11 and the last page is 5/28/11 through 9/10/11, so it doesn't seem to be sorted by date.

Maybe we can get an Admin to clarify if that's possible, and if so how to do it. . . Smiley: smile

Saw it and drooled over the cover art and 60 minutes of gameplay won't be worth buying a PS3 and a TV for to me.

Not a fan eh?

Some of the controls feel that way, in that you have something bound to lift and right click, and a few hotkeys. Also, there seems to be a good amount of dodging and kiting if you're ranged. Love my teleport, nothing like have the giant monster about to clobber you only to blink away at the last second. The story/flow of the game is pretty standard MMO stuff.

I can't get into TERA. I don't really find the combat that fun. It feels too spammy and uninteresting (I'm also not a big fan of hack-n-slash games in general). I never felt like I was doing anything that interesting, because the game just gave me a button to combo one attack into the most effective follow-up.

GW2's combat is a lot of fun solo, but I find it's horrible in groups. It may have gotten better since I last played, but it was largely a cluster@#$%. Without any way to ACTUALLY control the mobs, plus their stupidly powerful AoE attacks you don't have the endurance to consistently job, and no reliable source of healing, it had no feeling of elegance to it.

TOR combat was fun solo, but in groups it felt like a less polished version of WoW's, and EVERY class stil has way more abilities than they need. Group content was fine, but it was never one of the game's notable points.

Playing the MoP trial is definitely reminding me that, even with its many, many flaws, WoW definitely has the most polish of any game on the market. The gameplay may not be super interesting, but overall they use those systems better than their competitors do. I honestly think it's the best game for appearance to processing power you can get on the market right now--30 fps of MoP is definitely aesthetically superior to 30 fps of GW2. Enemies have sufficient movement in the world that it feels alive, and they've gotten much better at making NPCs that aren't just random bodies (cough, cough, TOR, cough). Storytelling is definitely way better now than it was back in Wrath, though I'd definitely rank the quality of the story as being much lower. TOR's story experience was better, but WoW does a better job of immersing you into the world. GW2 is somewhere between those two, I think.

I can't get into TERA. I don't really find the combat that fun. It feels too spammy and uninteresting (I'm also not a big fan of hack-n-slash games in general). I never felt like I was doing anything that interesting, because the game just gave me a button to combo one attack into the most effective follow-up.

What classes did you play? Just for curiosity's sake.

TOR combat was fun solo, but in groups it felt like a less polished version of WoW's, and EVERY class stil has way more abilities than they need. Group content was fine, but it was never one of the game's notable points.

I liked how TOR added more punch to things. Sure it was WoW combat in at heart, but the animations were more involved, and there was more "umph" behind what you were doing (for lack of a better word). More animations, and more attacks that felt like they involved you moving around. As opposed to just standing there wacking on something in WoW. I liked how your companions altered your playstyle too. You could wind up playing the same spec 3 different ways with 3 different companions. Helped keep things interesting.

Playing the MoP trial is definitely reminding me that, even with its many, many flaws, WoW definitely has the most polish of any game on the market.
So much so. Just 5 minutes back in the game and I was remarking how smooth it felt. TOR was awful in this regard. It always felt like you were doing stuff 1/2 second after you pressed the button.

I really should try GW2 one of these days.

Not a fan eh?
Never really enjoyed Diablo gameplay, and not a particular fan of action-rpg hybrids so I can't imagine being a fan of it on an MMO scale.

I feel like I'm failing in my game playing duties reading this thread. I just don't have enough time.

If you feel like that, the obvious course of action is to derail the thread to talk about beer or food or **** or something else you feel more up to date in.
