On the PC, my aim is almost as good as IRL. On the consoles, the useless little joysticks make NO substitute for a mouse, and my accuracy tends to be <10%.
Plinking I can hit around 3/4 pests / bottles / old CRT monitors I shoot at.

I cant, even if my life depended on it, aim with a controller. It's just night impossible for me. With a mouse, though, I'm pretty good.
I only used a real gun once in my life, while I was in the army during the 1 mandatory year we have here in Brasil. Freackin old gun, had a recoil so hard that my shoulder hurt for 1 month and had the bigger bruise I had in my whole life.
Blergh, count me out from real guns.

M75 by chance? Those suckers would give most unprepared recruits a black eye. Pretty hefty recoil in those sumbishes. Although not really freakin' old. I guess the M1 Garand is freakin' old. I love that weapon, though. The *cling* as the clip popped out. Love that sound. Loved it in CoD as well (the old games, before Modern Warfare and FPS games for consoles).

I have no idea. All I know is that it was a old rifle. I mean, really old. What you consider new in the US, we dont have here. What you consider old, it's probably our current. What we consider old is probably weapon from the second world war or something.
I mean, there are, of course, some specialized polices with current weapons and tactics and what not. But that's not the norm around here.
Wiki says this is the list of brazzilian army. I have no clue if it's updated or not. It's in portuguese, but you probably can use the names there.

I went skeet shooting for the first time, and got 5/5 in the end, with a bunch of 3/5 and 4/5. It was a blast. It took a few rounds to feel comfortable, but then I just started feeling it, and found hitting the skeets pretty easy.

I also shot, among other things, a .45 pistol. That thing has a ton of kick, and because you're not bracing it against your shoulder you really notice

New Army Rifle would probably be the M4 Carbine, which is basically the default weapon soldiers get. Nice little weapon, pretty accurate and decent range and punch with minimum recoil. When I'm in the field I get issued an M4 Carbine with an M203 attachment, an M24 SWS Rifle that I honestly hope I never have to use, and an M9 Beretta.

I guess another reason I don't like FPS/War Games is because I don't like being reminded of the weight of everything I end up carrying. Smiley: laugh

It wasnt that one I used, no. That's too modern comparing to what I shot with.
It was more something like this. I don't know if it was exactly that one, but it at least resembles it. Keep in mind this was 10 years ago.

Erm, you said Brazilian Army, too. Okay, the picture looks like its single action so that eliminates the M964 FAL. Doesn't look like a shotgun so that eliminates the Mossberg 500. Maybe the M968 Mosquefal?

I'm a rifle nut, by the by.

That's the one! I double checked and they still use it for new recruits and what not.

Apparently, they call it "Mosquetão 7,62 m968" here. "Mosquetão" is probably a joke with the name "Mosquefall", since "Mosquete" is an old word for old Muskets. Like in "The 3 Musketeers", we call "Os 3 Mosqueteiros".
Anyway, yeah, that was probably the one.

Edit: I checked on wiki ant it says this Mosquefal is still produced here in Brazil, but it replaced the old m954. So, I dont know if I used the 968 or 954. They are too alike for me to see any difference in my memory of it.

This page list both rifles are in use. So...I don't know wich one. The one where the recoil is worst? I remember I had a really bad bruise. That or I'm a horrible real life shooter, wich is propably true too.

Might be a little of both. I still remember going through BRM (Basic Rifle Marksmanship) back in Basic. I swear, there were some people in my platoon that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at even 50 yards. They only passed the marks course when the drill sergeants put someone on either side of them to "miss" their target and hit his by mistake.

Also, the M4 is standard issue in the Army now? Cool, seemed infinitely more practical than the M-16 A2 with the collapsible stock, etc. What's your MOS that you're lugging a pistol, assault rife w/ grenade launcher, and a sniper rifle, 11B Ranger?

Lolgaxe sounds like freaking Rambo, now. I think the only way I would ever join the Armed Forces is if we started using the AK-47. It's such an awesome rifle.

I started as a Marine 0311 (Rifleman) and moved to 0317 (Scout Sniper) within the first year, then changed to Army 31b (Military Police) two years later, and have been an MP for seven years. Rifle and pistol are standard issue for MPs. The grenade launcher is issued to all team leaders so I can't get out of carrying that. Not sure if that is MOS specific reason or just company policy though. I've yet to ever use it beyond training exercises. The SWS is more of a "Eh, we got someone that could use it and it would only help to have around" piece of equipment. Another weapon, thankfully, that I haven't had to use since moving to the Army.

And to further narrow it down, this year I finally got on to be a Liar Recruiter for the National Guard.

Eh, hardly. If you think my load is impressive, you should see my Gunner. He has to carry an M249 SAW, an M9 Beretta, and a Tactical Shotgun.

Rambo man-handled a 60, those things are freakin' heavy (25 lbs+ with belt). The M249 he's talking about is similar, but it fire 5.56 NATO (same as an M16) instead of 7.62 and is about 5 lbs lighter. I was a 91W (Combat Medic), the only thing we ever qual'd on was the M16, although a couple people got to play with an M203 and a SAW in Basic.

I know right? We should disrupt their gun talk by talking about chocolate or something. That magnum chocolate ice cream bar is hilarious. It's dark chocolate, and it has a gold wrapper...

My platoon's medic is an amazing shot as well. He's a little *******, too, which I use to my advantage all the time. Whenever we get new soldiers to the platoon and we have a range, I always go first. Mainly to show off. I spent a lot of time and training to be a sniper, damnit. Anyway, next I tell the new soldiers they have a choice. They can either try to out shoot my numbers, or the medic's, and if they out shoot one of us, we'll pay for drinks. If not they owe me fifty push ups. Of course they'll pick the medic.

Which, is a mistake because the kid is an amazing shot as well.

The best part of having rank is I can be a **** and no one can really say anything.

Also: 213 posts from Top Ten. Yay go me.

Well, any I suppose? You only need to be a higher rank than them, no? And since there are some unranked soldiers (from what I understand, at least), anyone with a rank always has SOMEONE they can abuse.

What is the top rank in the army, anyway? Assuming that "President" doesn't count.

Sorry, I should have worded that differently. I was asking what his current rank is. I already know the whole concept about ranking and superiority and whatnot. Smiley: tongue
