Fish, ice skating is a lot like roller skating. The only difference is that falling also involves leaving a freeze branded impression of your pockets' contents.

Good stuff.

Also, I was looking for new skates because mine are old, not a perfect fit and kind of cheap and I want a pair that's a step up in quality (also, I want clap skates).

Starting price for that category of skates: €500. sh*t.

When bad gear equals pain, I like to add good gear to my skill. I'm a pretty decent skater and I'd love to have clap skates because they allow for more natural and fluent movements, sadly they don't rent those out and there's really no other way to try them than to just buy a pair... >.>

Question: What would happen if I was taking Isotretinoin and decided to have a couple of beers, or hell, any of the other stuff I'm not allowed because of this god damned drug that's also the most awesome thing ever. I was under the impression that I was supposed to avoid this stuff because my liver wouldn't be able to handle processing the drug as well as the other crap, but I'm starting to think that it'll just interfere with how well the drug works.

There is no particular interaction between Isotretinoin & Alcohol. The only thing you need to worry about is overloading your liver. This would rarely be an issue unless you were a regular heavy drinker, already had liver issues or were adversly effected by the Isotretinoin. Drinking in moderation should be no problem at all.

I have unfortunately lost my formula for "Pharmacy Kahlua" which we used to make up at Uni. It had a little bit of brandy, vanilla essence, coffee, sugar syrup, water and 90% alcohol. Final alcohol content was around 22% though :)

We used to make up 40 litre drums (about 10 gallons) for our SUPA (Sydney Uni Pharmacy Assoc) harbor cruises. Lot of fantasticly bad nights were had :)

They actually changed the formulation here and included a blue dye in the tablet to make it noticeable if someone had slipped one in your drink.....

The problem is there's only one place to skate down here, and that's the ice rink at the mall. There's no frozen lakes, no really free public places, and in general just not worth really learning how. More people than not don't know how to ice skate down here.

Modern Rohypnol tablets are not just dyed, they're also compressed so that they only really dissolve in hot liquids, and even if the drink is dark and hot, the tablet, when dissolved, leaves a green residue in the glass.

So if you've had a glass of... warm Bacardi Coke... eurgh, and the glass is suddenly green on the inside, you may want to call a cab.

You can go skiing in Dubai year round, right?

On Rohypnol: They're green on the outside, bright blue on the inside. It's way easy to make powder from them and that powder tastes delicious (which is why I want to know what else they put in there in the first place). I wouldn't be surprised if you could taste that through a drink, though.

And yeah, you'd want to dissolve that sh*t in acetone or something, drinks won't cut it. (Actually, you can convert most organic drugs to a hydrophobic, i.e. not water soluble, form, if I remember correctly - but bioavailability if you just swallow it will suffer.)

lol protein. Oregon is an interesting state as far as weather goes. In Western Oregon, where I live and I think protein does too, the climate is considered a "temperate rain forest" or at least that was what I was told in high school biology class. It rains here a lot, but the weather is pretty mild for the most part. On the coast that is particularly true.

Here in the town I grew up in, we have 2.5 seasons. I say a half because the half doesn't last longer than a few weeks. About 8 months of the year, it rains. The temperature varies a bit, but for the most part it's just rainy. Then towards the middle or end of May, it stops raining and starts warming up. Still, even during our "summer" we still get the occasional fog and cold day. Then in the first 2-3 weeks of September, it gets really f-ing hot. At least for Brookings anyways. Like in the low 90's. Ironically, this always coincides with the start of the school year for the primary and secondary kids. So instead of being able to go out and enjoy the hot weather, they're in a classroom with their legs stuck to their seats and sweating miserably. Fun stuff.

In Eugene, we actually have the 4 seasons, which is pretty nice, but the weather is more extreme. Winters there are a lot colder than they are here. Well, right now we're in a pretty rough storm all up and down the coast, and according to the interwebs, we're at about the same temperature @ 46F. A couple weeks ago though Brookings had some freak weather and it was in the 60's here. In January. It was close to freezing in Eugene during this same time. Of course summers are a lot warmer as well and it usually stays nice until mid-October. Sometimes the summers are too hot. It's not uncommon for the weather to be in the high 80's to low 90's on a regular basis.

It very rarely snows either on the coast or in the valleys though. On the coast it's a lot more rare because the weather is milder and the salt in the air. I think in my 22 years of living in Oregon, it's snowed maybe 3 or 4 times in Brookings? I mean real snow, like a couple inches or more. In the valley areas, it snows every 3 or years or so from what I've seen.

Now Eastern Eugene, they've got really weird weather. There's a small mountain range down the middle of the state, as you can see here. Okay, it starts up in Washington and ends up in Northern California, but you get my meaning. On the other side of the mountains, they get snow. Like a lot of snow. Pretty much every year. And I think their summers are a lot warmer too. Y'know how Oregon has this reputation of being green? That's only true of the Western half. The Eastern half really resembles Nevada more than the rest of the state. There's lots of rocks, not quite so many trees, and even some desert-like areas. They're weird. Smiley: tongue

Heh, never thought I'd drone on about weather for that many paragraphs lol.

In Scotland, we have rain. You know how they say in Ireland it rains twice a week, once for three days and once for four? The same is true for Scotland to a lesser extent. It's actually been pretty dry since I moved here, just... Really. Freaking. Windy. Honestly, half the time I just want to wear a headscarf so that my hair doesn't get all Einstein'd up.

In Germany we've got 40 centigrade summers and -15 centigrade winters (those correspond to like 105 and 5 of your units respectively). Some years. Some years it snows in April, 2011 had a really @#%^ing cold summer (we got over 30 [86] for three days) and really temperate winter (way above freezing). It's much more moderate in the west of the country but Berlin is actually where we start getting arid climate.

Now Pakistan is a weather miracle. You've got humid heat in Karachi, sand deserts in Balochistan, lots of way too much heat in Lahore, really pleasant weather year round in Islamabad and snowy peaks up north. EVERYTHING. I think there might be some rainforests somewhere, too.

I was told one of the reasons my Scottish side of the family chose Seattle when they immigrated 100+ years ago was because the climate was very similar to what they were used to.

Also am kind of glad things are changing back to rain here after the snow we had. People here don't handle snow well. My 30 minute commute took over 2 hours this morning.

People...

Pigtails, I'm jealous of your weather. I love the rain.

Down here in Texas, we really have only two seasons. Really freaking hot for 8 months of the year (this past summer had 40+ days of consecutive over 100 degree F weather, breaking the record from 1980), two weeks of really nice "autumn" and shortly after, cold. Not really cold, but enough to make all us used to the heat bitch and moan. Mostly 40s in the winter, dropping as low as the teens on cold days and as high as the 60s on warm days. Last week we had a few days in the 60s, and tomorrow's slated to be 75.

Texas weather also changes extremely quickly. It's pretty volatile, especially around Spring, where the thunderstorms would scare dogs half to death.

I'll be done in 1½ years. Like, done done. Sure, I won't be a professor, but the kids won't know that. Smiley: sly

I'd play an MMO if there was one that even interested me right now. But since there isn't, I'll spend the money on beer instead.

I can play an MMO responsibly while attending school as long as I don't raid. =x Throwing in those scheduled events though, it makes it really difficult for me to say "Sorry guys, can't raid tonight I have homework."

I do 95% of my homework at uni anyway; that's why we only have 20 hours of teaching a week, I assume. Exam phase is a different thing, but honestly MMOs will lead to me spending more time each week playing than I spend in lectures/labs/etc. and I'd rather spend like 3 hours a day videochatting with my SO. Smiley: tongue
(That's the usual thing; we had a 3 week break because of holidays and I was way too grumpy, unwell and Twilight-brain-bleached to talk to him much the last couple of days (and felt bad about it), but we're back on schedule now and it's awesome.

The amazing thing is that my only friend who gets some of the aspects of this that are just a bit insane makes this relationship better sometimes, haha. That's why he's my friend, I guess, but I want him to be part of my life for a long time just because he brings little bits of awesome into it repeatedly. And yeah, not talking about the SO anymore - just a really awesome friend who's helping to make this as lovely as it should be (half the time by being horribly rude).

Also, I guess I like that there's an anti-SOPA banner up there now.

Now that I've tried Dragon Soul, I really have nothing left that I want to try in WoW. At least not until Mists of Pandaria launches, but my enthusiasm is at an all-time low, to be honest. Not looking forward to the butchering of my favorite class and talent spec. Not looking forward to fighting the war within myself. Not looking forward to five more levels in some Asian theme park with pandas.

I can't wait to get back to SWTOR, though. Three weeks until my new internet arrives and then I'll be doing a SWTOR bender like you wouldn't believe it. Should be around the time where I have three weeks off from my studies as well, so it's ace.

I don't know what BioWare did with SWTOR, but they did it right. The game feels right. It's a lot like the feeling I had when I first logged into WoW back in 2004. This uncontrollable desire to play the game.

I'd ask for details about your lovelife but it's going to be so complicated that I'll forget most of it in 3 minutes anyway.

Oh, still the same guy I want to marry.

Andrew has vanished in the depths of honours grade university stress (which is funny since the person who hasn't is technically a postgrad).

Said friend is really just a friend. I mean, he's really really hot, but he doesn't sleep with people he cares about. Smiley: glare

Also, wooo I finally got a refill on dokha. Or to be more precise, about 4 ±1 months' worth.

Honestly it's kind of the best time to take a WoW break. Since you have, what, like 9 85s now? Yeah, can't imagine that leaves you with a whole lot more to do in the game atm.

I'll be getting my darkmoon mounts, leveling another alt or two, then that Diablo game will come out. At that point I may well take a couple of months off until they start up the pre-panda stuff.

At this point, I'm just debating how long I want to hold out before jumping to another MMO.

So, interesting turn of events for my guild... Our main progression group, which is currently 5/8 heroic, has decided to jump the Horde ship and transfer to Alliance, joining the Non-Combat Pet guild. Their reasoning for this is that there are simply not enough progression raiders of their caliber to recruit on Horde side. Also, there seems to be a lot of resentment between some of the other progression groups and their group. I don't have any resentment against the group as a whole, just certain members of the group that are ass-hats. Okay, really only one, but that's besides the point.

One of the other raid groups is pretty much on hiatus until MoP comes out due to some RL issues for a few members, and the raid leader not wanting to try to recruit 4 people this late in the expansion (which I totally don't blame her for). The other is recovering from the RL and his assistant jumping ship because neither one of them were happy in the guild. So... no more hardcore progression teams, really.

It should be interesting to see how this plays out. A lot of the older members have complained that the cohesive family feel that the guild had when it was a 25 man raid team has disappeared into cliques divided by the different raid teams. I wasn't all that present before Cata hit, so I don't really know the difference, but I definitely see where they're coming from. We're going to try and re-create that family feel if we can, by bringing back our 25-man alt raid and just doing LFR with everyone. So that should be fun. I'm kind of sad to no longer be able to brag about being in a guild with raiders who are in the top 1000 of the world, but I think this is probably a change for the better for us.

If they're asshats, then they'll fit in with NCP just fine. Our current GM I think joined them for all of about 2 days, then came back to us.

Seriously, it never rains down here. It's rained like... 3 times since I moved here. Mostly there's just wind, and there was snow at one point. D:

People just pretend it rains all the time, I think.
