Also I'm busy proof-reading the final draft of my first 'first-author' paper in like 4 years. We're planning on submitting it early next week, so here's where the nerves start going. Desperately looking over it, praying you didn't overlook things, and hoping one of the reviewers doesn't dream up some wacky reason it shouldn't be published.

*Crosses fingers*

Eh, I fear she wouldn't approve of the way I'd raise any kids.

Good thing she'll likely be a few thousand miles away, wherever we settle down.

Of course I don't know if this marriage thing will work out at all (I'm not really a fan of arranged marriages and similar things and we've decided to compromise about that), but right now I just want babies. And a husband. And I have someone who is lovely and seems to want to marry me.

My mum would come around, I think. I'm never sure how important it is to her that all her future grandchildren are white (and preferably Jewish).

In the end though babies are cute, and grandchildren make people happy. Plus in-laws tend to criticize less, that way you hang around more and they can see the little ones more and such.

Well, here's to hoping it works well for you when all is said and done. Smiley: smile

I'm with you Aeth, but I still want to be supportive! If it's what will make Kali happy, I'm happy for her.

And I think Kali knows that I think she's one of the most awesome people ever.

Everyone should think that, really. It's the truth.

Ahum.

I know the situation is crazy. We've worked out a way to delay the decision for 1½ years instead of one. I thought I didn't have NRE for him anymore but with relative proximity being a factor again so soon and my sudden desire to reproduce, it's just come rushing back, so obviously I cannot make any decisions.

I need more info on this future marriage situation. Pronto!

Also, Dave got fired over a misunderstanding? What the...

Never understood how anyone could get fired over misunderstandings. I've seen it before, but it baffles me. If your superior is so incapable of seeking the truth before delivering the verdict, what the **** is that nitwit doing in a senior position to begin with?

Sorry to hear it, Dave. Hope you come back soon so we can rant over your former employer. Assuming such talk would not get the thread locked if your former employer is who I think it is...

Life's a ***** and then you marry one.

Woops, married audience.

Life's a ***** and then you die.

Also, sorry for slacking with the daily posts. I thought I'd get more time on the computer now that I'm housesitting for my parents (where the internet works, wooh!), but I'd forgotten about the cable TV they have.

No time to post when you can watch sitcoms all morning, crime series all afternoon, movies in the evening and awesome series all night. Just finished watching two episodes of Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Holy crap, it's like someone decided to fuse Gladiator with 300 and sprinkle it with softcore ****.

Because Aeth. wanted it:

It's got a healthy bite, but not overpowering. Lots of flavor, and at 7.6% its got more happy sauce then most american beers. It makes me happy. I'm happy. Smiley: grin

Well less happy now that its almost gone. Smiley: frown

I have no problem with this assessment.

Getting promoted is more a matter of kissing @$$ and appearing competent than possessing actual competency. There's also the old "policy says I have to do such-and-such, my hands are tied"...
