Well, yes and no.

The 360 version had trophies, but the PS3 version doesn't. And the things awarded by trophies just aren't interesting enough to do without a reward (collecting flags hidden around the world, killing templars).

The game works by giving you an assassination mission and you need to investigate your target, to both find out information about his whereabouts/habits as well as the crimes he is committing. Then you get to assassinate him and you need to escape.

You only need to complete 3 investigations per assassination, but you can do them all if you'd like.

So you can speed through the game or take your time. But besides that, there's not much else to do, no.

The latter two games are WAY superior. Like, in every possible way. I'd still say play AC1, though, before you plat AC2.

And AC1 is still a great platformer.

I kind of missed the assassination sub-missions in AC2 and ACB. Those games were more about following the story arc, going where someone told you to go and then you could do secondary missions on the side to fund it. I missed not having to stalk my target around, planning the approach and takedown.

ACB definitely tried to add more of that, though. Granted, it was through the mission system, but you did often have to stalk your target and uncover info about them.

It's funny, because I originally intended to compare AC1 with the Hitman franchise.

I actually never played Hitman. Seemed way overrated. But then I don't play war games/FPS either. I do like Ezio, but he's slowly developing Wolverine Publicity, and that really kills a character. Look at Snake Pliskin Solid Snake. He's in freakin' Smash Brothers. Good game, but damn.

Link is Not Safe for Attention Spans.

Alright, you guys got me convinced. Going to buy AC2 once I have the extra money I need for it.
Would definetely check out AC1 first if I was a millionaire, but I'm not.

I don't play much games besides WoW, just a couple of games on PS3.. AND Call of duty on PC.
I just love it. Not the newer ones though, but Call of duty 1 (and it's expansion pack United Offensive) and Call of duty 2.
I've played it much longer than I have played WoW, 3vs3's and 5vs5's with my friends.
It's a good laugh on teamspeak, although pretty often it's one of us raging over suspected hacks or retarded opponents.
I think our whole clan was ''abuse banned'' from clanbase at one point.

Friend of mine bought it for the 360 and talks about it every single day.

I've been banned from so many Call of Duty servers over the years, since CoD1, that it's probably in the hundreds. I think I've been banned from three or four Bad Company 2 servers aswell. I mean, just because I have a better aim that most people that run non-competitive servers, doesn't mean I'm using an aimbot.

I've come to the conclusion that people in the FPS community are more retarded than the average WoW player, because they genuinely seem to think I'm aimbotting.

I've been banned from a lot of CoD servers too and I`m not even that good in CoD, though I was pretty good at CS:S.
And, yes, the FPS community is way, way, waaaaaay more retarded than the WoW community. It's not even comparable. The Brazilian FPS community is not only more retarded, is disgusting. I dont play FPS with brazilians, they make my brain hurt.

You should play AC1 before AC2, simply because, well, AC2 is a sequel. Watching the sequel before the original sort of worked with Star Wars, but AC2 picks up from where AC1 left off (pretty brutally, actually), so I'd definitely buy and play the first game first.

For storyline reasons, the arc starts in AC1 and carries over into AC2 and ACB.

Also, AC2 has a lot of references to AC1.

In any case, don't play ACB before AC2 - and AC1.

Just play AC1 first, dammit! My OCD demands that you start a story from the beginning! You don't start with the second book in a trilogy just because you can't afford to buy the first. Buy the first then buy the second and third when you can.

You should at least watch the segments of Desmond's story before hand, and/or read a plot synopsis about Altair's story.

Or you should just go ahead and, you know, play the first game first.

Just saying.

If its for lore reasons, just check videos on youtube or go read a fan site or something. This game gets incredibly boring by the middle and lore wont be able to make you keep going.
Read up some wiki somewhere and go buy AC2.
ACB is a different beast and I agree that you should play AC2 before.

Unless you suffer from an acute case of some serious ADD, Assassin's Creed: Altaïr's Chronicles isn't that bad.

Yes, you have to ride around on a horsie between missions, but that's about the only thing different in that game. AC2 and ACB get pretty monotonous as well if you set out to capture all the towers and ****.

I knew there was a good reason for me not playing FPS games. Y'know, other than me not being particularly thrilled with guns and all. I'd rather blow **** up with fire.

Well, any online community in which voice chatting with strangers is a large portion of what you do is going to be pretty bad. Add to that the high-stress scenarios of FPS gaming, as well as the dynamics of team combat, and the lack of policing by admins and you are facing a pretty horrific thing...

I've learnt to just turn off voice chat (or game sound altogether, but I like explosions >.>) in FPS games.
I play BFBC2 and COD:WAW constantly enough to consider it regular. Why World at War? M44 - Mosin Nagant. First gun I ever owned in real life, first gun I ever (tried) to shoot dinner with. Wasn't much of that ol' jack left though.
I've never been kicked from a server, but I do manage to maintain ~60% accuracy, not too bad IMO. Would be WAY higher if not for my love of tanks.

I maintain a solid 20% accuracy in Left 4 Dead 2.

What, that counts, right?
