Fixed, you want to maximize Black Arrow uptime so shoot that before Explosive shot, as the damage gain from having a higher uptime on BA is larger than the gain of shooting your explosives earlier.

The reason you don't do that with Serpent sting is that you can refresh it any time, for example if my ExS is off cooldown in 1.5 seconds and my Serpent Sting ends at the same time, I'm going to refresh SrS now and shoot an explosive when it comes off cooldown.
You can't do that with Black Arrow, and black arrow is a twice as large dps gain as SrS.
I thought I had read you saying the opposite, sorry.

Is anyone else having trouble with Call of the Wild setting itself to autocast, similar to the Cower/Prowl bugginess? It's driving me crazy, personally I don't think anything with such a long cooldown should be able to autocast at all. >.<

Well, wolves can't prowl so at least you have an open spot on the cast bar for CotW.

The other day I was reminded of something. It seemed my pet was losing happiness pretty fast, and then it wouldn't eat the food I had. Reminding my that there are levels to food. My question is: Is there a addon that will display a foods "level" so I'll know what food to keep and what to get rid of? Btw, I'm using a Bear as my pet of choice right now because I'm leveling.

Now that I finally made it to the Outlands I was wondering if either of the two factions, Aldor/Scryer, was better for a Hunter. Or, would I be better not worrying about it at all since I plan to get to Northrend as fast as possible?

Now either faction isn't as important the only difference would be in your professions- and those would only be geared at level 70 max. For my hunter at the time, BM was the spec of choice so I went Aldor for the AP/Crit enchant to shoulders. Now that enchant is given by the Sons of Hodir. Look at faction rewards for your professions and gain rep in that faction if you choose, but I wouldn't bother trying to grind it out (unless you are bored!)

For most food descriptions it says the minimum level you need to be to use it. I think (I haven't tried to feed my pet low level food for a while) that your pet will eat the 2 food levels below it (it may only be one food level.. Ex: a level 70 pet will eat level 65 food) for meats that you obtain from mobs, go with the same general guideline: if you kill a 65 creature, your 70 pet will eat the meat. If you kill a level 30 creature, it won't. "Cooked" foods or meats/cheese/breads you buy from vendors will give you pet max point towards happiness, where meat off mobs may not.

Also, the pet talent in each tree will give your pet happiness- almost eliminating the need for food unless you have your pet die multiple times!

EDIT: fixed a mistake

Thanks for the answers to both questions. I have to say I didn't realize that cooked foods were better than raw. I would have sworn that it made no difference, but maybe that's something that changed between the time I started my Hunter (a long time ago) to now.

Sorry... I wrote the wrong response there.. the uncooked meat from mobs may not give full happiness... here is a rundown.

Monitor the Combat Log of your chat box to see how much happiness your pet gets from the food. If the level of the food is 35-25 levels lower then the pet it gains 8 Happiness per tick, If the level of the food is level 25-15 it gains 17 happiness, if the level of the food is 15 levels lower or higher it gains 35 happiness.

Food for pets can be purchased from vendors. Vendors typically only sell one type of food, and finding the specific vendor(s) your pet needs can be problematic for pets with restrictive diets.

If your pet eats fish, cooked fish is amazingly cheap at fishing-related vendors. For example, a full stack of Longjaw Mud Snapper is less than 1 silver and pets up to 36 will eat it for middle (17 per tick) happiness gain.

You can take a pet that eats meat and hunt mobs that drop meat. These pets are the easiest to maintain.

Pets which eat meat will eat the meat which is not food to you (no health restored tooltip), uncooked (for example, Mystery Meat). It is frequently top tier, happiness wise, if the mobs are your pet's level.

You can take up Fishing and choose a pet that will eat fish. This will save money as compared to buying food, but fishing can take a lot of time, so there's a trade off.

Pets that eat bread can eat food conjured by mages.

If your pet has a DoT debuff (from a poison or bleed effect), make sure to use Mend Pet or wait for the DoT effect to end before feeding it. Otherwise, the next tick of damage will cancel the Feed effect.

*Maybe this should be in the FaQ Aeth?*

I would recommend hunters get the mend pet glyph that adds happiness to your pet. Never have to worry about food again.

I'm not sure what HC means, but Assuming it means heroics yeah, you'll be fine. The dps demand isn't that high, and BM isn't that far behind.

Okay, I'd search, but I'm not a premium member, sorry. I try to tame a pet and get the message "You have too many pets already". If i hit Call pet, I get "Your pet is dead". I try to dismiss and get message "You do not have a pet".

Do I have to find my dead pet, revive, and dismiss in order to tame a new pet?

You need to revive your pet (no need to find it's corpse just use revive pet) and then either abandon or stable it before you can tame a new pet.

Here is an example of a talent spec for a hunter.

It's a god awful one, but hey... you didn't specify anything.
You probably should have read the first post too.

Ok, feeling like a total huntard, but, where can I find the lvl 15 spell Scatter Shot?:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?wspell=19503

I've Googled, checked the threads, and have a feeling the answer is right in front of my face.

My gawd open your eyes! There isn't a single point in Aspect of the Hawk!!!

edited: I mean, I guess it could be reworked for PVP considering where some of the points are, but it'd take more than just a tweak or three. Then again, I'm still learning the talent trees, but geesh man, Hawk is a baseline for any build.
