I'm excited to announce that my first ventures into Kara have gone amazingly well. I've now successfully main tanked Attumen (2nd try) and Moroes (3rd try) with a group entirely new to Kara. Tonight we're going to try the maiden. I think I'll be letting my warrior OT handle her though, as I'm a bit nervous about the constant silencing.

If you're not going to be main tanking, don't even be in the consecration. You'll be much better use standing among the pillars cleansing the holy fires off people.

I've tanked Maiden before. It's not too hard as a Paladin. Just spam your abilities when ever the Silence is up. Holy Shield > Judge > Consecration

I don't plan on it. I plan on throwing on my healing gear and saving the day during repentance via Blessing of Sacrifice.

After several attempts to get a Sunken Temple run, I finally managed to pug a decent group. We get to just the first boss then the tank, a feral druid, has to go. Upon the tank leaving, our Arms warrior decides to bail as well. What was left was me, a holy paladin, an enhance shaman, and a beast master hunter (all of us were level 52). Now at this point in time I was pretty frustrated since I had been trying to complete the level 50 paladin quest, and this was the 5th group I had pug'd in attempt to complete it in just one day. The other party members, the hunter and shaman, were in the same situation. So, we said ***** it, and attempted to 3 man the rest of the instance. What happened next is pretty interesting.

When our original party was full, we cleared a few of the troll pulls and killed Jammal'an the Prophet. After we downed him, that's when the tank and warrior left, so, we had quite a chunk to do. The hunter we had was extremely good at his class, so he kited what he could and kept mobs trapped while his pet tanked the whole time. Our shaman had massive dps so he just unloaded on the pet's target. I of course sat back and healed them through it. All of the trash mob pulls were fairly simple, since the hunter kept what he could trapped and the shaman blew down mobs left and right. At 52 I have just over 200 bonus healing and 4k mana in my healing set, so I was able to keep up fairly well. We killed the dragons fairly simply and killed the giant bog elemental boss fairly easy as well. The Avatar of Hakkar fight was no walk in the park however.

So we summoned the first wave and killed them fast. The hunter kept yelling DRINK DRINK! I was like why? We cleared the first wave no problem, Ill drink in a few. I actually never did this boss before so I didnt realize that the mobs didnt stop coming until we put the blood on the fires in the corner of the room. Our tactic was pure AoE. The hunter kept his pig on the windserpent elites that dropped the blood while he and the shaman grouped all the snakes and lesser windserpents in the corner. I swiftly ran over, consecrated, then backed up. The sham dropped his fire nova and earth bind totems, while the hunter alternated between explosive and frost traps while multishotting and doing his AoE shot. I drew aggro several times since I was spamming heals left and right, but my bubbles and defiler trinket saved me from getting too overwhelmed. I got the headpiece from the big dragon boss so my mana/5 got a massive boost. Thats what allowed me to heal the whole ordeal. I mana potted one time and health potted one time on the encounter, but we completed, just the three of us.

It took us 3 and half hours, but we cleared 75% of ST with just us three, all level 52 (sham dinged 53 on elemental boss fight). Fun times.

Stormherald with Executioner, baby.

We went to SSC, but ended up not having enough healers for Tidewalker attempts, so we hopped on some gryphons and flew over to TK. Along the way, not only did our only warrior tank get the trash ring, the last Vortex I needed dropped. I was given permission, and hearthed out to Shattrah, forged my mace, and had a friend in IF waiting for me. Slappping on the enchant, I was summoned back to TK, where we one-shotted Void Reaver. A very good night.

Woot, won my second and third http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=30183;source=live tonight and got my http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=28485;source=live crafted! I already had one Vortex, so that third one was passed to another Paly who has the pattern for http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=30034;source=live. Now I just need one more, pass it to him, and I can get a new belt as well. Now to gem, enchant, and respec to Ret for a little bit of fun :)

I started a Pally, got her to 8 and am still leveling. I'm planning her to be my second 70. Ideally a farming alt(Prot+Nagrand...) but I don't doubt that I'll end up loving her every bit as much as my Rogue(mmmm...Blinkstrike...).

What will sell you at first to Paladins is the survivablity:

"What? I just killed 5 or 6 mobs in a row and I can still keep going??"

What will kill you is the comparison to Rogue DPS:

"Ho-hum... here comes another attack, hope SoC procs. It did... yay"

Whether or not you decide to keep leveling a Paladin depends on the balance of those, if you have more fun surviving than you are bored grinding, then PLD=win. If not, then you'll get him to 30s or 40s then remember that you'd rather be doing something else.

Raid buffed, I have about 700 DPS, and am hitting for upwards of 2k on regular mobs. The squishier, the better. Executioner doesn't make a noticable difference in the big numbers that jump from my mace, but my math shows that it adds up in the long run. Especially when I get lucky and it procs a lot.

PvP is a dream for me. I two-shotted a Shadow Priest yesterday (White crit, SoComm crit, Crusader Strike crit) in an AB, totalling around 7000 damage. She was in FSW, but that's not the point. :P
#143REDACTED, Posted: Feb 05 2008 at 6:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Finally hit 490 on defense. Got to wait until mid Feb for our guilds Kara run. Don't worry, the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29156-Honors Call is just something I am messing around with. I use http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29153- Blade of Archmage with a +40 spell damage on it for grouping. Still got a couple of things to twink before I start running Heroics and Kara but its getting there.

Finally replaced my last piece of green tanking gear. Got the Bracers of the Green Fortress and slapped a fort enchant on it. Same thing with my Boots of the Protector that I made myself. So I replaced my last 2 greens with purples. Makes me a happy camper.

I was one of the 3 tanks on Void Reaver today and we got our first guild kill on him, woot! I was worried a little about keeping my threat up, but being in a group with a Shadow Priest and a Shaman really helped a lot. Never went through so many mana pots though, lol. Spell damage was just over 500 and I was keeping up with our Warrior and Druid quite nicely. Will make sure I have more mana pots and Mana Oil next time though, hehe.

Also, he dropped the Paladin shoulder token, but I didn't have enough DKP to win it =/ Oh well, maybe next time!

After several half-hearted attempts at ZA, our newly-merged guild finally seems to have the class make up and geared players to try it seriously, so we went... and cleared 3 bosses. Got nice drops for tank and clothies from the first 2 and then we went onto Akil'zon (I tanked the birds for the first time! Was really, really unsure about that as a holy pally, but it went fine) and I finally FINALLY replaced my crappy blue chest with the Chestguard of Hidden Purpose which he was kind enough to drop. Eqipped that, gemmed it out, and I now stand at just over 2k +heal unbuffed. Good progress for the guild too, so everyone's happy.

Finally got exalted with the shatar and got my shield and mace. Slapped 2 +12 gems and a +18 sta enchant on it and broke the 13k hp barrier unbuffed, while maintaining uncrittability and almost uncrushability (kings pushes me over).

Sad thing is using kings puts me at 13997 hp... only 3 away from 14k :(. Oh well, when I get my helm neck and card I will have way more than that.

After a few runs of SV with my static group i managed to get:
Steam-Hinge Chain of Valor
Devilshark Cape
Breastplate of the Righteous
and
Myrmidon's Headdress

also got Shoulderguards of the Bold as a stand-in until i get the Spaulders of the Righteous
.
The last two members of the static are almost 70 now, so soon we'll actually be able to get into Mech, Bot, and Arc.

This week we finally downed Blackheart the Inciter for the first time, and went on to wipe out the rest of SL. It's been a good time for my little group the last couple of weeks ;)

Got me badger legs and cleared Zul Aman for the first time, picking up the helm and belt along the way. Wiped a few times on Zu'Jin but otherwise fairly smooth.

Not equiped my helm yet cos I ran out of money for the enchant after buying 8 gems and the silver spellthread >.<
