Furious Howl and aggroFollow

I've only really noticed this since getting a mount, and subsequently FH3, but is Furious Howl supposed to generate threat?

I'm no expert on threat gains in WoW (Hence this post I guess) but I'm quite surprised as, despite being AoE, it's an AoE buff and doesnt cause any negative effects to mobs at all (Except when I open fire on a target after getting the buff)

When mounted though I notice if my wolf gets hit, he howls. (Not sure why he does as his skills are greyed out and he's on passive. A bug?) which has more than once resulted in additional aggro.

It has it's good points also. If I get aggro while fighting, and I'm close enough to my wolf, the howl will sometimes be enough to attract the add's attention.

So I guess I'm not exactly annoyed about it, just wondering why it happens, and hopefully learn something about threat generation.

Yup, in addition to this, furious howl will activate while your mounted. You can't trigger it manually, but when you pass a creature on your mount and aggro it,if Furious Howl is on auto-cast your wolf will cast it and since you did nothing to the mob, your wolf will gain threat. In some ways this is good, seeing as you won't get attacked while mounted, but also it is bad since you can't just dismount and FD =/.
