If I ask, which gives more dps? I am sure, you guys will say wand. But I am wondering, what if I don't want to shoot all the time and I want to melee with my minion. If I were to melee with my firestone and maybe put talents in firestone talent, which weapon should I use? Staff? Dagger? Sword? What's the proc rate with those weapon and it is like paladin's seals where 2H wpn does more damage and has more proc rate due to delay?

Any help would be appreciated.

Anything melee is so miserable in dps compared with your spells its really not worth having for something other but adding stats.
Besides, you have cloth armor, you are not suitable for close combat, the further you can keep away from your target the better your chance of survival is.

I only use my wand sometimes to finish low lvl mob, and tbh because it looks cute, I dont have illusions I am doing some big damage with it.

If you find it fun to melee around along with your pet, by all means do so, and use whatever you think suits you best. It wont really matter much what you use damage wise.

Fighting melee as a warlock is like trying to kill somebody with ranged weapons as a rogue/warrior.
It is hard, way too long and probably a very dumb thing to do in almost any situation.

As a warlock or caster of any kind you are looking for weapons with stats, not with melee damage so you won't be looking into procs. And firestone is not much of a great thing, I wouldn't invest points into improving it if they paid me.

A good wand will cause a lot more damage than a melee weapon any day, against just about anything and everything. It doesn't have a minimum range and doesn't use ammo, what more do you want ?
Seriously, the only time when you would even consider using melee rather than wanding away would be when you have no wand equipped due to using a Spellstone in its place.

Alas, you are free to do whatever you prefer I have done my part by warning you :P

PS: Slower weapons always have a higher proc rate, and yes, firestone will cause higher damage by hit with a slower weapon.

I'd go wand. past that you have to remember that most times you're going to be using your spells rather than anything else. The only time I'll be using wand unless in bg when hitting aspect of cheeta hunters to slow them or flag cappers to stop them is when just leveling my wand for use in bg. following up the wand with a curse of exhaustion is really nice to STOP them nearly in their tracks.

Wand's are a good thing to use at lower levels when Drain Life costs as much mana as you gain from the life tap. Once a mob has enough dots to die you can hurry it up by wanding without wasting mana.

Later with talents and +damage wands are just a handy tool.

Nothing makes me want to find a new party faster than having a level 63 lock start wanding with full health, dark pact, and a pet with full mana.

Even if you have a good sword with +dmg Enchant + Firestone u wont do as much overall dmg as you would if you had a decent wand and just wanded them to death.

Warlocks have **** poor Strength and Agility so even if they WANTED to do lots of melee dmg they just cant. Keep the weapons for stats only, use the wand if your low on mana.

I am often using my wand. It allows me to save mana without using the stupid life tap that steals half my life outta me so I can't even health funnel my pet anymore...
