Made Blood Elf hunter. Dragonhawk seems pretty interesting and i dont want to get a bat or cat at 10. Petopia says they have the "caster" stats but just wanted to ask if they're at leat pretty decent. So, is dragonhawk a pretty decent pet? I want to ask someone whose had one for awhile.
I went w/ BM spec to boost dragonhawk up.
But I'm not that high lvl.
Other hunters have said that caster stats affect the pet most after lvl 40 or so. You can make it work, however. Especially if you go w/ BM. You won't be the most "ubah" hunter out there, but you should be able to lvl and bg.

Looky at my sig, bveen running around with a dragonhawk since level 67 and traded that one in for a Bloodfalcon. Love it for grinding, he can tank multiple mobs (no I still can't multishot) but if I heal him they dont come straight for me.
I used him in instances but it makes little since as his big thing is aoe-cone firebreath, therfore I dont take him into instances anymore, if I need DPS I take my owl, and squicshy saving piggie goes into rougher instances

Wait, aren't the high-lvl dragonhawks normal stats tho?
For hunters under some lvl in the 60s, the only way to have a dragonhawk is to tame one in the BE starting zone and play it up. Those have gimpy caster stats.

Yes, High level dragonhawks have normal stats, come on Ipon... PETIOPIA!!
The only way to get one pre- level 67 is from the Bloodelf starting area, and as pets have less of a play in the outlands you could probly get away with it till you get to 67

I'm a 46-47 BE hunter and I have to say that of the two pets I have in my stable (springpaw lynx and Gold dragonhawk) I absolutley love my DH! He may have caster stats but I'll tell you one thing, he ain't too shabby at PvP with that firebreath. I don't get it, but he still out DPS's my cat..I'll have to work on that..
As far as tanking goes..he can handle two or three mobs his level and make it..he won't die, but sometimes he gets very close to it. Once in A ZF run he Off-tanked two elites for about 3 min while I was poundin away at 'em ^^
..and then I had to feign cuz they landed a crit on him T.T
