Please take a moment to look at this build:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?2500220512231110000002050033033050100501300000000000000000000000

Pros:
- Three instant cast DoTs: Corruption, Curse of Agony, Siphon Life
- Most key talents from the Affliction tree, including the ones you need for Drain Tanking (amplify curse for those pesky tough fights, Curse of Exhaustion because I love to PVP in between my PVEing)
- Some key talents from Demonology, including Soul Link and Demonic Knowledge

Cons:
- No Shadow Mastery, no dark pact
- No Felguard (never liked him anyway, c0cky b@st@rd)

Way of playing: drain tank with your succubus smashing away. Succubus is upped by improved succubus, unholy power. The DoTs and Drain life is upped by affliction talents plus 10% from Master Demonologist plus 5% from Soul Link plus X spell damage from Demonic Knowledge (upped by Fel Stamina and Fel Intellect) plus the bonus on Fel Armor from Demonic Aegis , thats a lot +spell damage.

My questions: is there anyone that has tried a build like this before? Is it playable? Will the succubus die too fast from the 20% damage she takes from Soul Link? Has the succubus too low intellect and stamina compared to the other pets with respect to the benefit you recieve from Demonic Knowledge?

Opinions/experience/advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Here's the main problem: drain tanking is more of a leveling build, isn't it? It's not a raiding build. While drains are used in pvp, they're not all that common. So this build might work at 70, but you won't have it until you get to 70 (and don't need it any more). See where I'm going?

The succubus would sometimes be killed or seriously hurt by Soul Link. Often enough to make this not work? I dunno.

I'd mostly be worried about what I said in the first paragraph.

Edit - consider the old SM/ruin standby - except you can get ruin (and chance for destr spells not to be interrupted (that was a NICE change on that talent) and as high as Imp Howl o' Terror.

When Nightfall procs can lead to a RUIN crit -- then yer cookin' w/ gas!

What Iponema said - you only reap the benefits of this build at level 70, when drain tanking becomes moot. Moreover, if you're levelling with drain tanking, I'd find it hard not to use imp. drain soul in order to maximize efficiency even more.

The barest expression of your build could be useful at level 66 and above, and I'd use someting like this:

Thanks for the input! I always saw this build as a grinding build for gold/rep whatsoever with a potential to PVP in between since I do not have any time available to spend a few hours in an instance noninterrupted (got an evil baby-twin at home /smile).

I agree totally with you that it is not suited for raiding.
