well the way i see this gnomes are the ultimate race for mage 5%int increase and escapeartist make gnome possible the most efftive race for just about any class with a mana bar and probbly warriors besides being a shorty is there any better race then gnomes this is so a i love gnomes post cus there the undead of the ally
and i dont see a reason not rolling anything but a gnome i just see them as the supreme mage race and a preety decent warriors race seeing as they can really ***** over a frost mage is there anything bad about gnomes???

I'm happy with choosing Human. The 10% bonus rep gain is more than worth it IMO, considering there are so many factions to grind up with at level 70... and they're adding more in the next patch @_@

They... are... evil...
And they bite your ankles when you try to punt them like a football, so watch out! *ouch*

yea but really the way i see it if u roll a double gathering class then gnomes they ways to go and sure perception can rock when fighting stealthed people but if u dont have a tradeskill like blacksmithing or such the rep sems almost useless so it comes down to trade skills....yea that does boot our engi talent out the window but ohhwell our race skills make up for that alot more if u think about it i mean it kinda makes you more random .....which brings up why is it i cant escape traps if my race skill is escape artist i mean that should me when i get "traped" i should be able to press 1 button and get outta there but for sumreason no ...
they should totaly make it so if a hunter uses there slowing trap the gnome race skill take it completely off the ground that whould tottaly be sweet cus it would help ally out alot

Glad that you enjoy gnomes. I can't stand them. The 5% int bonus is really nothing when you actually look at it. Escape Artist is nice, but I personally don't like PvP.

I love my Human rep bonus, just as Echou. And just as Echou said(but in my own words), Gnomes are the devil spawn of satan.

The best race for a mage is the race that you enjoy playing. If I hadn't already had a high level mage when TBC came out, I might have picked Draenei because I think they're cool, but I'm happy with my human.

Finally:

WotF >> Escape Artist.

Troll is best, because their casting motion is the same as Ryu/Ken's fireball.

I love the troll mage I have. Berserk ftw! I put that into my POM->Pyro macro so I use a trinket, berserk, POM, Pyro and get more casts in during the 15 seconds.

For the alliance side, I like humans the best because I *hate* rep grinding. I like the blood elves on the horde side for rogues (mana tap & torrent ftw... extra 2 second silence), and I like my dwarf pally, primarily because he is easy to see around. Made a gnome warrior because it is *funny* to hear him say in his puny little voice: "Need more rage"... sounds like a mad smurf!

I agree that trolls r prety cool..i mean Berserk FTW :D
it's like u r fighting a boss..he is at 2%..tank is dead..priest is dead...a shamy tries to tank...u look the warlock...he is dead...hit berserk-ap-pom-trinket-pyro.....OMGWTFROFLPWNED 5.5K +fireball 2.3K+ ignite 2k...when u start casting another fireball the freaking boss is dead and YOU saved the wipe.and ofc u r the easy-goin guy ;)

and besides...the only cute thing about Gnomes is the squink when they die!!j/k
they r the masters of escape but i want my mage to inspire fear with his size and power and not try to avoid worm holes in the ground :P

I love and miss my undead mage terribly. Best casting animation in the game.

However, Diplomacy is the single most powerful racial in the game, and I love that too.

I hate the way my male mage looks though, I shoulda went with a female.

You have been rated up, even though later in your post you seem to waffle, and this worries me.

Gnomes are the best, period, hands down.

Why?

If you have to ask why, if you have to get into a pathetic game of "this stat over that" ... you are so off base it's awful!

No.

Gnomes are best because they are gnomes! Do /lol. Hear that laugh? Does any other race have a laugh like that? You can tell by our laugh alone that we are the best. Just look at a gnome! Would you want to be killed by this, or would you want to be this killing others?

See? Gnomes are uber and the best! Be confident. Don't waffle! Eat waffles, but don't do it. Roll a gnome and go pwn! Period!

We also have the best jokes! Do /silly!

On the "fearful and intimidating side".... my wife (who refuses to roll horde because she doesn't like to go to dead places like UC or "ugly" cities like ORG and she doesn't like how they look), rolled a female gnome mage with the VERY intimidating name of: Missymoomoo

A little pink lvl 61 gnome mage that giggles with her cute pink hair and only wears colors of armor that go together.

/shakes head

That might have been true before The Burning Crusade, but is no longer the case. There are a lot of non-tradeskill rewards. I'm going to list some that are good for mages and those that are good for everyone.

Honor Hold
- Flamewrought Key (Revered): key to Heroic Hellfire Citadel instances
- Blade of the Archmage (Exalted): One of the best one-handed swords for mages at the moment, and it doesn't require raiding

Keepers of Time
- Key of Time (Revered): key to Heroic Caverns of Time instances
- Continuum Blade (Revered): Another awesome one-handed sword that can be had pre-raid

The Aldor
- Inscription of Discipline (Honored): +15 spell damage to shoulder item (does not require trade skill)
- Auchenai Staff (Revered): a nice 2 handed staff that doesn't require instance running or raiding
- Greater Inscriptiong of Discipline (Exalted): +18 spell damage, +10 spell critical rating to shoulder item (does not require trade skill)

The Scryers
- Inscription of the Orb (Honored): +13 spell critical strike rating to shoulder (does not require trade skill)
- Scryer's Bloodgem (Revered): Nice trinket; +32 spell hit, and +150 spell damage on use
- Greater Inscription of the Orb (Exalted): +15 spell critical rating, +13 spell damage to shoulder (does not require trade skill)
- Seer's Signet (Exalted): one of the best rings I've seen for mages and it can be had without raiding; +22 stamina, +11 spell critical rating, +33 spell damage

The Sha'tar
- Warpforged Key (Revered): key to Heroic Tempest Keep instances
- Glyph of Power (Revered): best head "enchant" for mages at the moment; +22 spell damage, +14 spell hit to a head item (no trade skill required)
- Xi'ri's Gift (Revered): another nice trinket; +32 spell critical rating, and +150 spell damage on use

Netherwing
- Netherdrakes (upcoming patch 2.1.0): Epic flying mounts

Cenarion Expedition
- Reservoir Key (Revered): key to Heroic Coilfang Reservoir instances
- Ashyen's Gift (Exalted): nice spell damage ring

Lower City
- Auchenai Key (Revered): key to Heroic Auchindoun instances

Kurenai
- Talbaks (Exalted): A cool looking ground mount

And they're adding even more factions in Patch 2.1.0

So yeah... take that you gnome devils you :P hehe just joking.
*runs from the army of gnomes*

Edit: fixed last lines... for some reason it was in the middle of my post.

It makes me glad that the first MMO I ever played had the stats set up so that if you wanted to play a mage seriously, you were a female.

I wouldn't want to deal with the human male's "voice out of a cheesy movie" on a consistent basis.

The voices aren't sooo annoying, except that after only 23 levels it's allready really irritating to hear "That spell isn't ready yet" - okay, okay, so i hit it 0.05 seconds early - STFU and cast it NOW!!!11

IIRC you can disable the "error speech" from the WoW Options menu (don't remember which sub-menu... either Sound Options or Interface Options I think).

Gnome dance. Only thing better is moonkin dance.

Gnomes are good. 5% intel should apply to final intel (as should the 15% boost from the talent) instead of just base intel, that would be useful. And escape artist isn't bad in PvE either. Nets, snares, slows. It stops slows too. And don't tell me blink takes care of it because when you are trying to run usually 1 escape isn't enough.

race doesnt matter as far as class sure escape artist is decent but not that useful for a mage blink FTW you do have 5% more int but humans have 5% more spirit which is still quite useful for a mage plus we have perception which is handy when i need to detect those stealthed rogues and of course we have increased rep gain their is no best race for any class that gnome mage isnt out dpsing you because he is a gnome he is out dpsing you because he is a better player in other words.

You know... if you look at the above post and use the voice of "sniffles" the mouse, it makes sense with no punctuation.
