1st, I'm lvl a lvl 37 affliction specced lock.

Ran SM last night and I was lucky enough to get a Staff of Jordan and also the
Illusionary Rod.

The thing is that I think I prefer the +STA of the Ill Rod over the +Spell Dmg of the Staff of Jor. I know I'm prob right, but I just wanted somebody to confirm this for me because it is tough for me to A) Use a rare item over an Epic and B) the Staff of Jordan just looks too damn cool!

I'm pretty new and just wanted confirmation.

Thanks in advance,

sell the epic if you hadn't already put it on. If you did put it on already, then you might as well use Jordan as you are getting to that point of switching out stamina for damage.

My advice would be to sell the epic and pocket yourself a nice bit of gold now because you are going to need a lot of it at higher levels if you want to get the most out of your warlock, enchantments etc. Level 60 dreadsteed quest is also going to cost you a pretty pocket to aquire. Illuisionary rod is a good enough rod for your warlock and I personaly would also prefer the extra stam and int over the 26 bonus damage. Saw a quote on another warlock disscusing how to judge gear that he wore might help you in future;

1 stamina = 1 point
3 intellect = 2 points
10 spirit = 1 point
3 shadow damage = 1 point
10 of any resist but shadow = 1 point

By this method (letting shadow damage = damage and healing) staff of jordan gets about 17 points while illusionary rod gets 18 points edging out slightly.
Even though bonus spell and healing might be better than just shadow damage I recon you dont need it that much as a low level warlock.
So my final conclusion is go for illusionary rod it'll serve you better and sell staff of jordan, i just hope after hearing you say that it looks really cool you hav'nt already equipped it :). Hoped that helped your decision.

P.S sorry about any spelling mishaps in a rush should be studying for college exams >:(

If you have already equipped the Jordan then don't be afraid to use both. If you haven't then just sell it unless you have plenty of cash and don't care.

In instances where you are not getting attacked much then I would use the Jordan. If you are soloing and tanking the mob a bit you might want the illusionary for the stats. If you are just destroying what you are fighting and aren't worried about dieing then switch back to Jordan to do it faster.

Really really REALLY badass locks don't even wield weapons.

They carry bouquets of flowers, a 10 pound catfish, that kind of thing. They're basically saying "I'm so wtfpwnzers and imba over u that I don't need to beat you with a weapon in my hand -- I can beat you with this fishing pole or skinning knife or flower or whatever it is I choose to hold."

If yer not that uber, the basic rule of thumb is to sell very valuable items that you're going to quickly level out of. Gold lasts, utility to a fast leveler does not.

And yes, go Sta and Int.

This is funny because of how meny times i have left a fishing pole or the like in my hand and jumped in to a PvP encounter. not because I ment to, sometimes stuff just happens.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the input. As much as I would like to go with a boquet of flowers or something similar, I'm just not there yet. Maybe in another level or 2 :)

I'm glad my first thought was kind of on. I've had some pretty good luck wiht the AH so it looks like I may be heading over there tonight.

Thanks again.

Ok I am on PvE but it happens to me all the time. I am trying to fish in that sky high lake in Terokkar and get jumped by all kind of mobs regulary.
Now, I hate to loose my lure and I hate to dig through bags and find where I put my staff, so I just get into fight with pole in my hand.

Sometimes I simply forget to switch.
The other day I was getting onboard from Menethil to Darnassus and I got /w from some 20ish NE complimenting me on my fishing pole. I had Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole on so maybe he really meant it, but it doesnt change a fact I was quite embarrased to find out I was running around with fishing pole instead of my staff.
