what's the point of this? I know that pets are automatically put on passive when you mount, by why dismiss it completely? I don't want my pet to disappear when I mount, because my pet and my mount match! (frost saber cub and swift frostsaber).

I think it's more for flying mounts.

I think it should be an option not force you.

Im totally with you on this topic, my mount and pet match too (ive even got a tabby cat that runs with us,,she`s gonna be lonely,,). Dont know if we`ve had an explaination for this yet but it should be optional.

i think blizzard should have made it posible for flying oets to fly alongside you mount.
i'd love to fly on an epic mount with a windserpent/bat/owl/carrion bird next to me =P

It's a tiny nerf to BM Hunters with Spirit Bond. Other than that, it's either a nice thing or a lousy thing, situationally. And as such it's probably a change not worth a lot of development cycles, while there are still Pets out there without a class ability, while the Consortium still isn't mailing out the promised gems, while the Tomb of Lights quest has been broken since the release of TBC, and while a pile of other bugs and issues that actually impact play are left unaddressed.

When I first read this, it sounded like the pet would auto-dismiss every time you mounted up. Which is why I didn't like it. However the blue post on the EU forum makes it sound like this only happens when getting on a flying mount, which I can live with. (Mainly due to not having a flying mount ;p )

If that’s the case then I’m all for it. You wouldn’t happen to have a link would you?

I do find it interesting that I’ve seen several posts similar to this one on the official forums and yet not a single blue has chimed in to say whether or not this change effects land mounts.

Note that it's very vague and still doesnt say for definite one way or the other, but it does only mention flyers.

It happens on both mounts on the PTR.

I'm extremely happy for the change; less chance of my pet drawing aggro from having him running next to me, not to mention how much easier it'll make my flying mount.
