im not exactly sure what talent tree youd like to go down, some specifics would be helpful

however if you want to output high damage, a sheild isnt really the way to go. unless of course you carry a 2hander around with you for soloing, and a one hander and a sheild for healing. Just make sure the 1h+shield have int on them, and the 2h have str+sta

go look up some talent builds, see how you like to play, and go down that path. you can always respec later
