if you pvp much, i'd recommend a boar for the charge ability at that lvl.

I have a boar, and the charge is very nice, especially in Warsong Gulch.

Another good option is a cat with prowl, which does good dps and can compliment your night elf's shadowmeld ability nicely. Just don't expect a cat to be chasing down any flag carriers until they get dash in the 30s (obviously you'll want to drop prowl before even trying).

Don't get me wrong, the boar still works with shadowmeld, you just have to park it somewhere else first (preferrably somewhere that attackers won't notice). Even fancier is badly hiding your boar in the hope that rogues will assume you're an idiot and waste time looking for you next to it.

good luck!

If the person is at 29, and planning on staying there, prowl isn't gonna help. Lowest level req is 30. But yes, prowl+shadowmeld is nice.
Boars are nice for PvP, but I'd say wind serpents are good too, b/c even if they're rooted they can DD. Ravagers are good because of their uber DPS, and if you're BM and have BS then their speed isn't as big of an issue. Or you could go with a wolf for furious howl (if you stick with your group and have all hunters/melee guys this could deal a TON of damage).

So...cat (at 30+), wolf, wind serpent, boar, ravager, or really whatever you want. Go to petopia, it's got stuff there to tell you what species have special abilities.

The best boar for your level would be Bellygrub.

Might be better off taming both Bellygrub (lvl 24) and a lvl 29 boar so that you don't have to ding grinding the 24 boar up to 29.
