Its demonology right?? i mean i was full aflicion and had like 350 with fel armour on and now i am full demon and have 485 with my felguard out and fel armour on. Also any tips on how to get this really high?? i am lvl 63 and i saw a lvl 70 with his bonus dmg in the thousands, will mine increase that much in only 7 levels?

bonus dmg comes from gear, not specs. well you can have more '+dmg' with demo say, but that doesnt mean youll be doing the most damage with it. Im affliction, and i aim for alot of + shadow dmg gear, so all my dots hurt alot

Demonology, most importantly Demonic Knowledge, gives you the highest +spell damage, as far as I know. It converts 15% of your demon's stamina + intellect into spell damage.

Demonic Embrace, Fel Stamina and Fel Intellect increases your stamina and intellect stats. Your demon receives a bonus to its stamina and intellect depending on your own stamina and intellect, so those three talents increase your health, mana, your demon's health, mana and your spell damage. Demonic Aegis, or whatever the talent is called, also increases the spell damage bonus from Fel Armor.

I have barely 400 spell damage with my Destruction build. I have barely 500 with my Demonology build and the Felguard out.

Maz, correct me if I'm wrong. Doesn't the Voidwalker have higher STA+INT than the Felguard? I'm fairly certain that he has more HP and a bigger mana pool which would seem to indicate that. I could be wrong - I gave up on demonology and went back to Afflic after finding myself becoming a healbot to that damned Felwimp.

ALL pets give the same bonus dmg bonus from Demonic Knowledge, only the imp is different because of blood pact's extra stam boost.

It would be demo, but if you want to put that spell dmg to good use I would suggest a build like 0/40/21. It depends what you're doing. Alot of people are finished questing, finished grinding at 70, in this case ruin is way better then a felguard. Personally I balance it a little, 39/1/21 right now for half farming/half instance runs, but when I get serious about end game heroics, raids, its gonna be 40 in demo and 21 in destro (ruin = 200% crits).

I'm making my shadoweave vest in a few days, putting me at 790 shadow damage with gems. And I got a nether drop tonite so I can craft spellstrike pants. Pop the good spellthread on those, theres another 35 point jump, around 825. Add the hood and some enchants I'll be sitting near 900 shadow damage without demonology. Once I respec I should be in the ~1050 range with the demonology talents.

For pure grinding, I'm guessing 40 points in demo kinda sucks. I mean you're so close but you dont get the felguard. But take a serious look at the other talents, combined with destruction talents (up to ruin) and you see a pretty amazing raid/5 man spec. You have alot of options, sacrifice a pet, roll with imp for 20% less threat, 10% damage increase with sucubus, longer CC durations on seduce, 15% more stamina, 200% shadowbolt crits, shadowburn for finishing trash mobs, the list goes on.

In raids/5 mans the only things I would really miss from affliction are dark pact, iHoT once in a blue moon, improved life tap and soul siphon. I wouldnt even miss instant corruption much.

cheers guys all very helpful, yes i also find affliction is best for grinding, i did a quest to kill 30 mobs in zangarmarsh and never had down time once just used drak pact, life tap and siphon life to keep me with full health and mana. One thing i didn't notice from the switch is that i now have 5400Hp and almost 7K mana, this is waaaaaaaayyyyy more than i had with the other specs. And my crit chance is 15% compared with 10% in afflic but in destruction i specced for it and got it as high as 23%.

While Demo builds give you the most bonus spell damage they also give you the least use out of it. With all that extra damage you'll notice that no where on the entire tree is there a talent to give you something to use it on or improve it's use. For proof of that see some simple calculations done here

The long and short of it? An extra 10% bonus spell damage doesn't do **** when you have longer cast times, lower damage coefficients, fewer spells, a lower crit rate, etc.

Hey Loki, ever done a Demon/Affliction calculation?

Demon aflicktion would have horrible raid dps, it has amazing grinding dps, because with sucky you have 20% damage and darkpackt (asumine 31/30/0 spec). however 10 in destro is a must for a raider. bane increases shadowbolt "speed" by 20%, wich is 20% extra dps on shadow bolt, improved shadowbolt futhermore gives like 70-80% extra damage when you crit asuming you have time to cast shadowbolts to use up the debuffs... w/o thouse your raid dps sux big time... 30/21/10 however should have the highest raiding dps, but lack range on destro spells, agro reducktion on destro spells and can't sustain it's dps as well as 40/0/21

This is true.
Well, basically, only counting DK that is, since Blood Pact and Master Demonologist with succubus and Felguard throws it off a bit.

And I believe it is mostly as Loki says, Demo would probably lose in the long run to Affliction and on short fights to Destruction, alas, it is still a nice and very spell powered middle ground.

pd: Somewhat irrelevant but... kudos to whoever it was that said they consistently used Soothing Kiss to reduce the enemies damage output, I was so damn stupid not to think of that earlier.
