Depends on your build, different build requires different stats. Also depends on your current health, your attack power, you need to balance out too.

In simple, for me,
Mutilate - +8 crit
Combat - +4 crit, +6 sta
Subtley - +4 crit, +6 sta

Along the same line of questions. I know that you do not have to match the gem color to the slot color, you would just miss out on the socketed bonus. So my question is. Would it be better for an assassination rogue to add all +crit (usually yellow gems) to the Tunic of Assassination and just miss out on the +4 dodge rateing? The Assassination Armor gives nothing to +crit that my assassination rogue likes. Also would it be better for me just to keep my Fel Skin armor as far as the pants and gloves go for +crit? I'm only running a 25.84% crit now.

For me, I'll be putting 2x Inscribed Noble Topaz, and 1x Jagged Talasite. Fel leather is very good for assassination rogue too.

You do realize that the inscribed noble topaz has str on it right? As in... that stat that you pretty much want to avoid like the plague at 70...?

For DPS purposes, espeically with a combat build (41 points with 5/5 combat potency)... 8hit > 8crit. The 4agi/4hit, 4crit 6stam, are also good choices depending on what you want/need stat wise.

Yes I agree on that, but I'm not combat build. :) To me, that is the cheapest +crit gem in that colour I can find, as a mutilate build.

Honestly, go with Glinting Noble Topaz, it's a better cut (for rogues) of the same gem. A gem with str on it is a poor choice no matter what you're looking for. If you don't need the socket bonus, you can just go with 8 crit gems. I'm assuming it's a red socket as you would probably already be doing this if it was yellow. I'd definitely consider either the gem I linked or the 8agi cut over anything with str on it... even if it does give crit. The 8agi gem will give you the same amount of crit as that gem, twice the AP, and some dodge... as well as armor if you care...

Assassination chest is my "pvp set" chest piece, so I went with 3 Shifting Nightseye.

Glinting Noble Topaz is not my option, min 35g+ for this, and I don't think I'll spend the golds on this. +8 crit gems are my all time favorite, but not available most of the time too. :(

I really hope the gem market can go lower, blue gem cost min 40g+ usually, sigh.

The difference in price shouldn't be any more than like 5-7g between the two as they use the same stone. So even if you are getting the str/crit one cut for free, and you have to tip/pay 5g for the other cut, it's only 5g. Honestly, if money is that tight for you, just gem it with greens. You'd benifit a lot more by getting green gems with stats that benifit a rogue than getting blue gems cut with strength.

On that note, go farm. I recomend the blood elves on the ramp/landing by the black temple. They drop good coin/cloth and scryer rep items. Additionally, you can solo pull all of them if you are careful, and they drop pretty fast.
