Just to make sure I'm reading the tooltips right, do you have to have Leatherworking 350+ to get the set bonus from the Heavy Clefthoof gear?

Edit: The ones listed here don't show it, but at wowhead: http://www.wowhead.com/?search=heavy+clefthoof

Note the markings under the set bonus.

No, anyone can use them and get the set bonus. This is the most popular armor choice for all the feral druids for their tanking gear in our guild.

WoW Wiki page about the leggings.
WoW Wiki page about the vest.

Notice both mention only Leatherworkers may benefit from the set bonus. :(

Only leatherworkers get the strength, looked at the set both in-game and in test server.

Looks like I'm going to be switching for leathercraft in the near future then; I seem to get more money from skinning than herbalism anyway...

Why base your professions on one set of gear? It's 20 strength, that's all. Drink a potion and it's taken care of.

lol, my little brother posted that last one, the punk. It's what I get for leaving my computer unattended during the day, eh?

I'm not changing anything; herb/skinning has served me well for moneys since I was a nooblet tauren, I'll certainly continue to use it in outland.

This whole set is getting a massive upgrade in the next patch as well. All up, bear form, they will give over 3k extra armor!! Not sure exactly, but the boots & legs together will give me an extra 2240 Armor.

This set is basically a must have for all druid tanks until they hit the 25mans.

Couldn't stand looking at the possible set bonus anymore. Dropped herbalism, decided to go with alchemy transmutes, and picked up leatherworking instead... Yes, it's just +20 strength and I could have that with a potion, but being a potion person anyway, I'll be able to have +20 ON TOP OF my potions...

Big question will be whether I should actually pick a specialization - which I havent done yet - to get a chance to craft one of the epic sets. They're not that great really...

Thing you gotta remember is that if you ever raid you'll be changing those Heavy Clefthoof pieces eventually so changing professions just for it might not be the wisest thing to do. =/

But yeah, 20 Str is pretty interesting.

Sooo, you're going to sink thousands of gold into a profession over a set bonus that you're only going to have for, what, a month or two?

You're dedicated, I'll give you that!

It's only a couple hundred at most. I am skinning myself with my hunter alt. That way I already took LW to 295 now, and haven't spent more than maybe 200g - only to speed things up a little and get the hunter to skin in an area where he's getting xp as well.

It's not just the strength bonus for the druid and possible crafted BoP epics. There is useful stuff to be made for all my chars. Riding crops, those armor pieces... I'd have to pay for all of it.

Oh... the crafted stuff is sent to yet another alt... to be disenchanted and either used for a skill-up or sold.

Think the only thing I'm losing is time.
