Had a couple questions about tanking loot.

First off, should I use my Burnoose of Shifting Ages or go for Devilshark Cape?
Burnoose:

Cape:

Burnoose has more armor and a higher Defense/Block rating while the Cape has more Stamina and some Dodge rating.

Second question: I just got Figurine of the Colossus.

Come to find out it shares a cooldown with Holy Shield. Should I go ahead and use it anyway or stick with my Uther's Strength?

Thanks, your opinions are much appreciated :)

For the first bit, it's all entirely situational, depending on if your mitigation %'s are good enough, or if you need more hp, and what not.

Second I dunno.

Maulgak,

Just looking at the two capes, it seems the Devilshark might be a little better because it has stamina, shield block, dodge, and defense ratings while the Burnoose lacks dodge.

As for the trinkets, the figurine looks sweet, but it requires activation and the passive stat is only for your shield block rating. Without using the figurine myself, I suppose the question is how well has it worked for you? Uther's Strength proc'd considerably often when I used it and I kept it in the bank after hitting 70 in case I ever wanted it again. Great little trinket, but I'm not sure if it would be as useful end-game with the amount it absorbs. I think it was something like 200 damage which, now-a-days, is maybe one hit from Outland mobs.

Just my two coppers.

When you say it shares a cooldown with Holy Shield... Trinkets have like 2 minutes cooldowns, right? Holy Shield is like... 6 seconds. Or 8s? I forgot. O_o

Anyway, do you mean activating the trinket triggers the 6-8s of HS? If so, it's no biggie and I'd say keep using it. Strength of Uther is nice but not very reliable.

For the cloak issue, the second one seems to be a tad bit better. The armor difference isn't huge, it has more Stam, equal Block, slightly less Def Rating but nearly 1% dodge to compensate.

Just my 2 cents, I'm not a gear expert.

Second question for you Maul, I assume the shared CD is similar to that of the AW / Bubble one, so if that's the case, I would think you wouldn't use the tinket's active talent very often in favor of Holy Shield. Just wondering. . . .

Ok, to clarify: Holy Shield has a 10 second CD, and when I activate it, it also puts a 10 second CD on Figurine of the Colossus. Meaning I can't use the "Use" portion of Figurine and Holy Shield, just one or the other. Though, I didn't try using the trinket first yet ... Hmm, I'll log on and check it out.

EDIT: Alright, just checked it out and it works if I activate Figurine FIRST, then I can activate Holy Shield, but not the other way around ... weird. Anyway, think I'll go for the Devilshark Cape based on your input. Thanks again :)

Then that's one helluva trinket.

Holy Shield.
Holy Shield.
Damn, I'm taking too much damage.
Trinket + Holy Shield.
Holy Shield.
Holy Shield.

Sounds good.

Yea, I've been using the Figurine then popping Holy Shield and my other Trinket: Dabiri's Enigma. 2 words: very nice ^^

Now if only I can remember all the time: Trink THEN Holy Shield ... Most of the time I forget =/

Create a macro?

I'm not an expert, especially not since 2.0 modified how to create macros, but I believe there could be a way to create a cast sequence which would check the Figurine's cooldown and cast Holy Shield as long as it is on cooldown...

I'll try to start checking that right now and will update if I find something that looks good for you to test.

OR, you can just put the Figurine on your hotbar just before Holy Shield.
Like, (4)Figurine, (5)Holy Shield.

Get the Devilshark Cape unless you have a lot of problems reaching 490 Def.

As for the trinkets, the Figurine of the Colossus provides over 4% avoidance, making it a really usefull help to push CB off the table. Even if you never Use it, it's already a lot better than Uther's Strength.
