Priest Weapon?Follow

I was wondering what's a better weapon style for priests...
I narrowed down between
1) wand
2) wand+dagger+offhand
Which one's more effecient

always have a wand and staff or wand and mainhand + off hand.

In general I have found I like staves better just for their stat bonus

i asume you are new.

when you get higher than lvl 10 you wont ever swing you dagger or staff again so it doesnt matter.. they are only good because of the stats they give. a wand on the other hand is :)

staffs are generally high on +int +stam +damage/healing

while a mh/oh combo would generally give you more +int (ideally) and + healing(higher than staff)

ALWAYS have the best wand you can for your lvl.

Do learn to use staff/dagger/mace and swing them at enemies. They will not do great damage, but you will increase your skill in time. Also, they are free damage, unlike wand, that activates your global cooldown.

Also:
staff will give more +int +stam +spirit
mace/dagger + off hand will give more +healing/damage +mana/5.

rofl! so you are suggesting him to go melee?!

ok it activates global cd, but that doesnt matter. you shouldnt use wand unless, you have control of the situation. and you should never go melee, unless you are ganking lowbies or something.

why not go melee? Mobs will eventually get near you in melee range. Why not whack it in the head with your stick? You can get up to 500 white damage in a fight :) When you are solo, your melee is not going to hurt (you) ;) A renew can keep you up pretty good while you cast and smack the mobs.

And, while you duel or fight some one, always attack him with weapon too. If it's a caster, you can prolong cast time. If not, you can get some white damage in. If you are really bad, you can coat your weapon with poison (a reward from a quest can come in mind) and it will poison them for some time.

idk about you guys, but personally, i dont whack people with my staff. i would always rather use my wand over my staff. especially with my wand specialization ;). rawr. i prolly will be getting rid of wand spec if i decide to spec for raiding... >=D

The only time I ever wished I had my melee skill up was when I had a melee fight against a mage on my server in WSG (PuG versus Premade). I spent the whole WSG either in that melee fight or /dancing with that mage while I made myself some food.

Back on topic - get both weapons. Wand in range, which is good for boss fights and such when you're regenning mana or waiting to have to heal. Staves and 1hand/offhand are only there for the stats. Personally, I prefer a stave in PvP (more stamina and intellect) and mace/offhand in instances (more +dmg or healing).

Having your skill up on melee (staffs/daggers/mace) can come in handy. When (OOM)wanding a mob with resistance to the type of damage your wand does,,,it's time to start swinging while waiting for mana regen.

Fighting mobs, I like to keep both my mana and my HP right up there just incase I get ganked by another mob or the enemy. General pattern is nuke, dot then melee. When it gets time to cast renew I'll switch to the wand to finsh off.

That way I've got close to full mana and HP at all times, although I'm the first to admit that it's not the fasted way of killing mobs.

The questions is why would you not want something that is free and might have some use sometimes. Melee as a caster is nothing to be ashamed of, and you get some white damage in there, while casting.

Mana

i can see how it can come in handy, but that is 1 out of 100000 times.. imo its not worth spending 2 hours to skill it up when it almost isnt usefull.. keep in mind that you dont swing when you throw heals/spells.

ohh and how often are you oom and the mob is imunne to your wand? i myself have 2 wands because i have both healing and dps gear so that makes it even less likely..

ill admit that you can use melee some times but the work in skilling it up isnt worth the gain.. sry dude..

off topic: i should get back to my exam LOL!!! lame teachers who doesnt cut of the internet access at exams..

no one said you should dedicate time to increase skill. Just swing as you fight, and you'll gain skill without even knowing. And even with chain smite casting, there will still be one or two weapon swings. Remember that swing is only affected by the weapon speed. So in between casts it's a big probability to swing. Also, when you must move/reposition. You can't cast, but you can smack :D

I don't think it's a matter of wand or melee, as I use both one then the other.
If you cast a spell any spell you trigger your global cooldown you can do one melee hit in that 'global cooldown time' and then move on to useing your wand or casting some other spell or whatever...
Melee damage little as it may be is free, mana free and time free, and you can do it between each 2 spells if you like.

I know... it must seem all to pedantic, yes? :)
well you don't need to skill it up to have some value, I like to use melee hits in PvP to stunt the cast time of other players.

You can see videos with priests useing melee damage on you tube,
some you tube priest
I can't think where els that white 91 could come from
