At the moment I am lvl 48 and arms specced with 5 in cruelty, I dislike tanking but it seems that 99% of the lvl70 warriors I see are tanks.

So before I push my warrior to lvl 70 and find out I cant get that cool teir 4/5 raiding gear, can an arms warrior get into an end game raiding guild?

I posit that if you dislike tanking, rolling a warrior was not a wise move.

Don't misunderstand, I am arms specced myself. I run instances and even raids as DPS... when I can. But I don't delude myself as far as tanking goes. In the majority of groups I attend I'm there to tank. You do what the group needs or things take much longer and have a higher chance of falling apart.

Yes, it's possible to do end-game as DPS for a warrior. With the right spec and gear warriors can do terrific damage behind plate armor protection. But I got into my raiding guild with my warrior because my priest was already a member. If I'd wanted to get in to a new guild as a warrior, odds are my selling point would be my tanking.

It's also likely you'll have 2 sets of gear. One tanking, one dps.

Arms warriors should be considered for dps in raids. But, your more likely to get a spot as a Proto war, if they need one. Usually a guild already has a dedicated MT warrior.

For Karazhan...probably not. For 25 mans you can be a debuff bot and help the raid out greatly. Spec into imp TC, imp DS, MS, and blood frenzy. Your tank can then spec out of TC and DS into other useful talents (you have to keep them up for him) and your blood frenzy and MS debuffs benefit the whole raid.

And ohh what a mighty debuff dps machine you become.

4% increase to melee damage = one of the best debuffs for melee, end game.
20% decrease to speed of attacks = a good stackable debuff for tank and anyone in melee range taking physical melee damage...
Mighty dots for a warrior = only way to deal ranged (not melee) damage effectively (as a warrior).

With the sunder ability being rather mediocre in scale to raid mob armor values, a flat 4% damage increase for physical melee damage, is by far very useful (and stacks with sunder).

In karazhan, you will most likely be a prot, but in 25 man raids, there may be a spot for arms/fury.

There is a VERY small chance you can get in a Karazhan group for DPS, but you could tank it with a hybrid spec. When I hit 70 I'm gonna be going for a Arm/Prot hybrid spec. It will make it harder to tank but I will still be able to PvP alot. In my raiding guild we have 2 70 warriors tanking heroics with hybrid specs.

Well, i go to karazhan a lot as a fury spec, but then again im just lucky. Spent all my money basically gearing myself up, and i make a very comfortable second place on the dps meter, second only to our guild master (rogue). With better gear i could maybe out dps him. As long as i have blessing of salvation on at all times, i can go full dps and not pull agro.

Whether or not you'll be able to dps or not in end game is partly down to luck, and how open minded your guild master is towards "off specs" such as shadow priests.

I didn't even originally want to dps, but we have a very good prot warrior and feral druid, so i wasnt needed as a tank in my guild. Works out for me, means i can quest and pvp and raid with the same spec.

Basically, you might be lucky enough to dps, but don't be afraid to tank. I find tanking fun anyway, its nice to feel needed :)

if you dislike tanking I'd suggest rolling a different class to test out the other side of the coin. at lower levels (before you hit 60) it's best to test out all the other sides before you get sucked into 6+ hour raid runs. I understand you've allot of mmm sentiment invested in a 48 warrior but test out another class and see for yourself how it goes. Btw fastest leveling is 4 toons at 1 time. 1 each day and logout in an inn. the rested exp means each of them level fast.

I'm an Arms warrior with 17 points into protection, and I do DPS and OT. I just put on the tank gear when needed to tank a mob. When the MT is on a boss I am normally in my tank gear using two 1h weps building the threat so I can stay 2nd on the threat meter. Either way you look at it, you're going to be tanking if the MT should go down. Warrior was my first choice and I also had no idea what I got myself into, but I started to enjoy tanking and now thats all I want to do. I really want to spec full prot but my guild won't let me spec full prot (we have two MT's already so they need some DPS/Hybrid OT's).

You'll figure something out, don't worry. I know a guy who left our guild and joined another guild because they wanted him to DPS in raids. So he specced Fury (Better than Arms for Raiding IMO) and now raids DPS. Just gotta find the right guild I guess.
