Talent Suggestion (Frost)Follow

#1 Apr 21 2007 at 11:52 AM Rating: Decent
I was talking to my friend earlier today, and we thought up of a cool new talent. I'm just curious what you guys would think.

I believe their should be a talent after Water Elemental, where as you spend points the Water Elemental stays out for longer but does less damage. This would make it so we had a pet out almost all the time, but we would have to spend upkeep to keep it out.

Discuss.

It's not so much that the idea itself is bad... but the problem I see is that Mage is not a pet class. The class itself is not supposed to have a pet out for extended periods of time.

If you enjoy having a pet to help you, perhaps try playing a Warlock or Hunter.

Personally I don't want my mage to be a lock...If we had our pet out all the time that is how people would start to look at mages. Lock posers. (imo of course)

Yeah, I think it's a good idea that doesn't fit the class.

Oh well, I had to see what everyone thought, heh.

Just up the damage on mages. Then everything is happy and pure.

gief perma-pet
gief freeze
roll lock if you wanna be op.

clarification : i don't think locks are OP because of their pets. even WITHOUT the pet they would still wtfpwn most classes in pvp and do zomg-like damage over time in raids.

Another possible talent would be to give us something that really increases our mana bar, possibly without increasing intel or by doing it not entirely from increasing intelligence, which would imply some crit rating increase as well.

So basically, that talent that increases total intellect by 3% each step - it doesn't translate to a mana pool increase of 3% because not all my mana comes from intellect, a ton of it comes from the base mana and health you get from each level, make it increase mana pool by an additional 3% too. Or throw that talent somewhere else so that we actually have something useful to spend our talent points on early in the arcane tree if a 15% mana and 15% intel increase together seem too powerful for 5 talents. Really, I don't think it is, because at most its a slight improvement to crit rating and a 30% or 35% depending on how the math works, increase to total mana. So my mage with 9K mana now has 12K mana. Makes mages more useful at PvE, and not such a big deal at PvP. But warlocks have 13K health and they can simpy life-tap it into mana, allowing them to concentrate on items that stock up on stamina for PvP, so why should mages be able to have awesome mana? I mean mages are by far and away the most deep magic of any class.

Bravo! Bravo! I cant agree more with the warlock stam thing and the fact that mages are solely dependent upon our casts and not a pet or melee. I think that the class is ok the way it is but more of a mana pool to draw from would be very helpfull and as the poster said. Put the talent in a different tree or give lower arc a few more usefull things.

Either as a talent or as a cool new ability, mages should be able to do dual element attacks. Maybe just give us one... the elemental blast or something, dealing some amount of fire and some amount of frost damage, and then some cool ability on the side. If you want to be boring, then just make it chill and DoT.

This wouldn't be very useful, it certainly wouldn't be overpowered considering how much blizzard likes to nerf us mages. They could make it more or less useless or very limited (high casting time, or weak insta-cast), but it would be nice to see a mage shoot out a dual elemental attack.

Mage is not a lock class, if they gave us pets taht are out all the time I would rather roll a warlock...

instead of them giving us new stuff, how about they fix our other problems.
