New to Game, and have a couple questionsFollow

Hey all,

Thanks for taking the time to read the post. So here goes... I just started playing the game perhaps a month ago (late adopter), and knew quickly that Druid was the class for me. Feral Druid to be exact. Having played and loved Red Mage in FFXI, I knew versatility is something I dig on. But I'm having a bit of trouble finding a couple resources (if they exist), and thought I'd ask on here.

Anyways, what I'm looking for are some suggestions to where I should be questing to get anything that is even remotely good for a feral druid. I'm a lvl 30 Night Elf btw, and thus far it seems like quest rewards are pretty much for anyone but me, lol. Or should I just keep watching the AH for decent gears?

I'm trying to keep 3 sets of gear halfway up to date: cat form, bear form and some clothy healer stuff. Lots of the druid vets seem to stress just how gear dependant the class is. Although to be honest I've spent a grand total of maybe an hour doing anything other than soloing, I figure the call to join up and do something different could come at any time.

Anyways, thanks in advance for any replies. And if I missed something in a sticky somewhere, be gentle.

Peace,
Garrobin

you will be able to combine your cat and bear form gear together at lvl 40, when you get dire bear form. it increases your armor count by 400% instead of 180%, making life in bear form a lot easier.

and in instances, a feral druid has just as much right to roll on leather drops as rogues

i usually only keep 2 sets, a feral set and a healing set

I agree, at level 64 I only carry two sets, and none of it is cloth. If I am the DPS of the group/raid then I will ask to roll on a nice rogue/cat piece. The only time when I wouldn't roll on a nice piece of gear is if I was healer of the group and we had a rogue who needed it.

At level 30 gear shouldn't be your primary worry, you will outgrow any Auction House gear fairly quickly, and once you start spending money there it is hard to stop. Try running an instance your level such as Scarlet Monastary once or twice. I stress once or twice because generally, leveling should be your focus.

When choosing gear for your feral forms be sure to see that it has Strength and Agility for cat (STR before AGI) and Stamina is important for your Dire Bear form. When you eventually meld these sets together don't feel that you have to use only one set of gear for cat and bear, you can have a cat helm and a bear helm but still use the rest of your feral gear, it just depends.

Hope it helps!

bear form gives you 25% extra stamina now, instead of just raw HP, like before
so you dont have to worry about getting a lot of stam gear. dire bear form's armor and stam bonuses should give you enough health and AC to tank easily

At level 30 you don't need to worry too much about Sta & AR, but at higher levels they are two of the most needed stats on a bear druids gear.

there's also 1 or 2 nice items in Zul'Farrak for us druids.

I've noticed that now getting to early 50's most of the blue items i want for my kitty spec comes from BlackRock Depths.

it all depends on your style of play. at 70 i have a 5 sets, although only carry 2 or 3 on me at any one time ;) feral pvp, feral pve (difference is burst or sustained dps), tanking, healer and balance/caster although there are items that interchange between sets.

while leveling i found this pretty handy, Druid Gear i've linked you to the Pre-TBC lists (level 60 and below).

Really, you can share a lot of items between Cat and Bear, but if you plan on tanking with bear then you need to max armour, defense, sta and agi.

My suggestions would be to watch the AH, and try to get into some instance groups as the drops can be quite good.
