Talent tree comparisonFollow

#1 Apr 18 2007 at 8:49 AM Rating: Decent
Hi all,

I have a fairly new warlock and am wondering if someone can tell me the advantages and disadvantages of each talent tree. Demonology would clearly make my pet better, but what about the other two?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

ok Demonolgy = Pets with a lot more stamina and intellect but also you will get a lot of +spell smg bonus, but generally a low crit rate. Downside is i don't think felguard is worth going that deep.

Affliction= Major DoT's and is great for grinding since u have siphon life to keep you on full health and dark pact to keep you on full mana. This is a very good build for low levels and wouldn't think about speccing away from it until you get dark pact. Downsides you get the least bonus spell dmg and lowest crit rate. In instances you will constantly feel like you should be doing more dmg and will never finish top of dmg meter....unless u r the only dps class for some reason lol.

Destruction (my build) = HUGE DAMAGE, basically u will find destruction locks are called "mages" a lot for how much this build changes your playstyle, 1 in every 4 mele attacks against me allows me to instantly cast SB, which in turn heals me 30% of the time for 30% of the dmg it inflicted so this is a great spec. Downside is that if you don't have an aggro meter add-on you will constantly over aggro and die, eats mana very quickly.

A great common build is to get Ruin in Destruction and Dark Pact in Affliction, this allows very dmagaing crits, and a constant refill of mana. Although dark pact only does a max of around 750 mana a time so you can quickly drain your pets mana which is bad for all pets.

Ok, I don't know if you just suck at affliction or have never seen affliction played well, but I am ALWAYS top damage, if not then second. In the last instance I did (brd), I played with a warrior, paladin, mage, and a druid, and I was top damage by 3k at the end (druid was behind me, and the mage was behind the druid by about 5k). When I played the 49 bgs, I was always top damage unless I came in near the end. Imo, aff is a good spec if you like DoTs, which is what a warlock does.

Demo - buffs your pet, you can play well, but if your pet dies you're screwed

Aff - major reliance on DoTs, don't get many buffs to health/mana, but it's great for PvE and imo the pvp build for top damage, because those DoTs tick away even if you're dead. No reliance on pet, and a good style would be having your imp on passive and use DP so you never run out of mana.

Destro - basically a wanna-be mage. I don't think this is a good talent tree because if I wanted to do burst damage I would play a mage. But it's main purpose if for crits and damage. Some people know how to make it work, but I don't, so... /shrug

I have to agree with Miscelaneous in relation to affliction i can beat rouges and mages on damage, dps AND healing :) metres. Also as affliction i am far more efficent at doing this coming out of each battle the way i start full hp and mana. No more food and drink for me = a lot ofmoney saved.
