Shamans and leatherworking...Follow

#1 Apr 18 2007 at 7:09 AM Rating: Decent
My shaman is a skinner and leatherworker. I know later levels I will have to choose a 'path' in this profession, and I was wondering what would be the best for me.
Thanks for the help!

Well since you will use mail later on, go with the dragonscale, since that the only path that go to mail!

yes, usually shaman's choose dragonscale LW beacuse it allows then to make mail, which is availible to the shaman lvl 40+.

Definately go Dragonscale for Leatherworking. On a somewhat similar note, have any Shamen out there had luck with going Blacksmith instead of Leatherworking? Some of the high end Mail armor pieces made with Blacksmithing look better for an Enhancement spec than the Mail pieces made in Leatherworking. I'm considering trying Blacksmithing out for something different.

BS is ok for the lower lvl mail stuff it can make, but the mail gear pretty much only suits "lower lvls", which in higher lvls it seems to focus more on plate. The quality of the mail gear vs the quality of the mail gear for LW, LW seems to be "better" for what it offers to Hunters and Sham's.

The big thing that BS holds above basically EVERY profession, is the weapons.

So basically if your choosing a job based on its endgame use for your class, if your wanting armor, go LW, if your wanting weapons, go BS.

Obviously Skinning compliments LW, and minning compliments BS.

Actually, there's a level 70 mail armor epic that you can make if your an armorcrafter that's just silly (like all the other level 70 epic crafting items).

It's this which is rather awesome for an enhancement shaman, in my estimation. Whether or not in can compare to the weapons you can get is up to you, but it does have a pally bubble on it (though I'm not sure of the cooldown.)

The CD on that is either 1hr or 2....I forget which it was....but it was definetly at LEAST a hour >.>

Ya its the extreem "OS" situation item, but I wouldn't call it a great selling point. Concidering the costs to make it and the time spent to make one, there's a bunch of other epics in the game that are on par if not better than that.

I certainly wouldn't go into BS "just" for that, thats for sure.

LW is awesome, at level 70 you get the best pre-T5 Mail pieces in the game.

Dragonscale, no doubt, no debate.
