I'm re-rolling another warlock and I would apreciate name suggestions.

Do you have a good warlock name or have you seen any good warlock names?
(Im not a roleplayer; just so you know :)

Choose a name that you would like to hear over and over again.

Names in other languages can give a lot of cool ideas for a character name. Mythology does too.

I mostly make up my characters names, and my brothers chars names too ^_^'

Here go a few random suggestions, an example of what I could come up with:
Derenius.
Zureas.
Celes.
Jedal/jedalia
Thebnos/thebnis
Gyrdaug/Gyrdal
Leivos.
Fistandilus (name off-sprung from that of the necromancer in Dragonlance novels, yah, fantasy novels are also a good source of ideas).

You can make one of your own, or if you take any of those I won't charge you either :P

Make a name that's easy to type. I avoid those funky dots and dashes over letters - people will not be inclinded to send you whispers.

If you go w/ a long name, people will call you by a nickname.

Avoid names like "Thewarlock" and "Imawarlock" - those stink.

PVP twink names are "Gonnafearyou" "Phearmyfear" "Dottedyou" etc. Those stink.

What race is your lock? Undead have normal "human names" like Bob Jones, Ethan Whittle and George Bush... er JK. But they do have "normal" if somewhat old fashioned names.

Orcs have names like Loktar, Grishnak (that's from LotR), Gutrank, etc. Harsh names.

Gnomes have tinker names - think hardware/geekware and build a name - or something funky.

Humans ... go to mythology like the other guy said.

Blood Elves - no clue - I have no feel for them. Simon Cowell? Fabio? Anna Niccole? JK.

I usually go with some odd word that means something else. Heh, confused?

My Warlock's name is Sumac. For those who don't know, Sumac is the common name for a genus in the Anacardiaceae plant family called Rhus. The genus is probably most famous for holding the species Poison Ivy, Poison Oak and Poison Sumac.

In other words, a pretty nasty family.

Naming my female characters after flowers started early on, but they were all named after pretty flowers, happy flowers. Since a Warlock is a dark class, I had to go with a more dark flower/plant and it had to be a name people knew, or at least thought they had heard before.

Since Anacardiaceae is a bit long and Rhus a bit manly, I went with Sumac.

Might change her name when I move her to the other server.

All good advice that here, I picked Setesuyara, who is the Balinese Goddess of death, which I got from wikipedia. As someone earlier said, if you pick a long name then everyone will just call you by something else. I typically get called Sete, but a couple of people call me Setesu. I like the mythology, and doing the search on wikipedia gave me lots of choices, I would check there.

On Burning Blade, my lock's name is Atropas, slightly deviated from the name Atropos, who was one of the Fates, specifically the one who supposedly cut the thread of life for individuals.
On a related note:
Good Priest/Res. Druid name: Clotho, the first Moirae, who spins the thread of life.
Good Paladin name: Lachesis, the other Moirae, who measures out the thread of life.

lol.

I settled with Valain for my BE warlock. (I have higher level charecters for all the other races so i just thought...)

Although a gnome named "hardwearstore" or gnome Rouge named "screwdriver" would be cool.....

I named mine Lokey after the rapper, although its also a god.

How about the name Wrists or Emokid lol.

I don't know my locks name is botosaihw.

Mythology and Fantasy novels is the way to go in my opinion.

Also a good thing is to just make something up that looks good to you.

My warlocks name is Chrosan, it's a spin off of Chronos the god of time. Works for me cuz when I'm fighting with my lock I got all the time in the world.

Some other names I've used for caster classes are:

Male:
Asinak
Miusin
Hithul

Female:
Fiola
Aorsa
Medalia

I named my 'lock Seuche. According to an english-german dictionar, that's german for Pestilence. Figured it was a good name for an aff lock, and since I started him on an RP server I didn't want the name police to report him.

My blood elf warlock is Aids because she is the master of DoT
#17 Mar 05 2007 at 5:21 AM Rating: Decent
Morse (DoT & dash)
Shylock
Shlock
Goldilock
Padlock
Bolt
fastener
restraint
flintlock
Ohare (Lock o'hair)

or you could choose a name from a lock manufacturer

or you could try something German or another language: Kunci (indonesian), Samakas (sudovian)

Since locks are dark creatures, I came up with Plagueous for mine, seems to fit my Undead toon nicely. Everyone calls me "Plague".

I'm not overly original when I've used up my usual names but like may others said I prefer to find a good word and translate it to one of the other languages I know, if it sounds cool then I go with it.

In the case of my latest 'lock though, I was exceptionally unoriginal. Allow me to introduce Frilock.

hmmmmm :\ naming, the hardest part to any MMORPG...
With my UD warlock I was lazy... ish, I took an old RP characters name I use to have, and changed the wording, Kentaro became Taroken. Oddly enough I like it because they sort of gave me another name out of it, Tarek xD

With my BE Lock I went with randomize until I saw something that I found short sweet and to the point, Asht :O

but for naming, usually you find a set of things, and name for it

If you want to be bitter, there's a lock on Rivendare named "Skillzcoil"

Just cause I do love the topic of naming characters, I recently decided to name my Horde Orc Warlock Carnifex, as it was the Public Executioner in Rome, and I thought it sounded nifty. Definitly go for names that have background with them, I feel they are the most enjoyable, although heartbreaking when you find out someone else on your server has the name.

This is an amazing site to look up names. If you want a name that's got a little more substance, or sounds better, than "LotsaDots" then have a look. You can search names, meanings, namesakes, and a huluvalot more. It's usually where I go to get names for my chars in rpgs.

The best names that usually aren't already taken in an MMO are less known about people and deities in real world history. Browse the net for history you will find something you like and no one on your server has already.

As has been mentioned but choose one you like. Beware though, as IponemaGirl said, people will shorten your name.

So you can pick some groovy name like Assonovemenae, and in every instance or group you will simply be... ***.

(course maybe that's what you're going for :) )
