Okay, I'm apparently uber n00b numero uno...
None of the weapons trainers I've been to will train me in maces. Apparently the dorf in IF is supposed to, but he won't. I'm a Dwarf Hunter, btw. So, I suppose my question is, "Are Dwarf Hunters allowed to train in maces?" If so, I must be bugged *cry*
***edit*** okay, I just found out that Hunters can't even use maces. Oh well...

Yeah, hunters and maces aren't really a good combo since most the stats on the special maces are gear more towards a combat-caster like a pally or a druid. If you're looking for good weapon choices, the thing to go for is anything that will boost your agility characteristic and provide decent DPS.
Most important is boosting agility though. Agility effects how much ranged damage you deal with your gun or bow.
