Every Balance/Restoration Talent post that has been up has always contained "Improved Starfire - Rank 5" by some Druid. To be honest, this is the only Talent I see in the Balance Tree that is completely useless. A fifteen percent maximun chance for a short stun on a spell that you cast from a distance, no damage increase and no cast-duration reduction or anything, just a 15 percent chance to stun??? I can not wrap my brain around the logic behind putting a major 5 points into this Talent.

Can some Druid out there that has picked this talent please explain why? Is it actually useful?! Am I wrong here!?

its useful, but not on-the-spot useful.

as an opener, it allows you to basically get another starfire off for free, at least as far as casting time goes. ive also had the stun effect proc on some classes that were casting spells, interrupting those spells.

its rare, but it does help. and youve got to look at what else is available too; do you want imp. wrath, or imp. starfire? weapon balance, or imp. starfire? i kinda think imp. starfire isnt that hot either, but in most cases, its the lesser of two evils, and our strongest nuke when specced right.

would be nice if they changed it to a .2 second casting decrease with 2% chance to stun per level. would make it way more useful (maybe too useful, i know with vengeance maxed, getting 1k crits on starfire isnt unheard of).

Yeah, I'm just dissapointed that it doesn't deal any damage or anything noticeable number-wise. As well, I often use this spell to pull a mob towards me, not to have it sit there stunned for a few seconds. I guess I could cast two Starfire in that circumstance, seems wasteful mana-wise though.

Maybe this is one of those Night Elf things that I will never truly understand, since I can just Stomp mobs' asses for the same effect, and it's a guaranteed stun, and I can use it every minute, and it's AoE.

Okay probably less useful for Tauren who have war stomp ... NEs don't have this stun ability so the stun effect on this can be useful.
