Smithing Shamans??Follow

Hey, hows it going? I was thiking of ways to enhance my shaman when i read that we could wear mail. I imediatly then thought of the possibility of becoming a smith. i could make top of the line weapons, sharpen them, make sheilds and spikes, keys!, and eventually wear the mail i produce. My only concern would be if this works? I was originally going to become a leather worker, but i dont like the idea of just making armor, so then i thought of an alchemist, which is perfect. But would being a smith be proffitable enough to afford the top of the line health,mana,strength, defense, and resistance potions? and should i only become i smith if i plan on being an enchancement shaman? ( im going elemental/enchance) If anyone tried this or has any thoughts on this, please shed your light, thanks.
