Regret Professions...Follow

I am currently a level 26 Tauren Warrior, and my guild leader reccomended I try out Herbalism and Alchemy. It was going pretty good for the most part, and alot of the potions helped out somewhat. I sent alot to my friends and other guildmates and they seemed to enjoy them more than I did. I intended to be Blacksmith and a Miner because it seemed ideal for the Warrior class to be able to make your own Weapons and Armor that fits you best. Now Herbalism and Alchemy are kind of dragging behind and I am in need of gear that I cant find anyone to make for me. Should I stick with Herbalism and Alchemy because I know they will payoff in the end, or should I start Blacksmithing and Mining if its not too late...

Just wondering what other fellow Warriors chose for their professions and how they have or havent benefeited their journey through the ranks of Warrior.

Also it would seem ideal to start Blacksmithing and Mining now since I have some money to get it going..

I wouldn't say its too late. I also to a warrior that started with Alchemy/Herbalist. I always thought it would work great since it would boost my abilities and heal me because i solo alot. I got to 160 (I think) on Alchemy and decided to swith to Mining/Blacksmith because the same reason yours is. I am now a Lv 38 Elf Warrior (Shadowar on the Lothar server / Guild= Global Army) but to tell u the truth I havn't made one armor that i am using. I have made armor for others and have sold at the AH for good money. I am currently a 190 Blacksmith but because i solo and always pair with my buddy (Lv 35 Elf Hunter / Global Army) I keep having to buy healing potion at the AH. I have bought most of my armor from the AH. However, I have seen great armors on other player that make thier own. The point is if you solo alot then you would need something to help you with your health. Since I really havn't made armor for myself, I have regreted switching professions. Its also very costly if you cant find some of the costly items to make armors/weapons and also not able to sell at the price you want.

Bottom line is (this just me) I should of stay Alchemy/Herbalist because I solo and would greatly benefit from the buffs. I would of been 250+ by now (sad). Have I thought about switching back=Yes and will I=Probaly.

Also maybe i'm just to low in blacksmith to fully enjoy it ? I might never know.

Hope this help

At level 27 almost all the armor I am wearing is stuff that I made. I know at much higher levels you switch over to mostly stuff you find but I hear that weapons that are weaponsmith only are pretty good.

Whyteshadow, I'm glad to see i wasn't the only one who thought maybe they had made a mistake in their profession choice. Maybe I should just stick with Herbalism and Alchemy for now and give it some more time. It should start paying off soon, at least when i get Artisan Alchemy.

Hulm, did you start Mining and Blacksmithing earlier in the game, or did you just put alot of time into it?

LOL, u r going to laugh at this. I am currently Lv 40 and still haven't made anything i can use. So I quit blacksmith at 195 and turn to skinning. Why? cause i need a mount (LOL). The output of gathering for money out ways the end product. I can make easy 3 1/2 gold on Mithril bars/stack then to make armor. The profit yield is just better. Skinning is a blast even though for lower money value but it really takes no effort from u cause u skin what other people leave behind. I put up all my blacksmith stuff on sale at AH and quit blacksmith last night. Went skining, in 1 hour went from 1 to 208 in skinning. But getting back to your question = I did started late at lv 20ish (I think). So like i said before i might of started too late to fully enjoy it.

Note: I have also seen Alchemy tradable goods go for good money in AH - So think about it

Well i have egnineering and mining, probebly the best end game skills posssible. Sure Alchemy and that might help you lvl but Engineering gives you items you can use for PvP.

The fact everything you can make with engineering requires engineering to use means it's a vitial skill. All other trade skills should be on an Alt as they dont directly help the char with it. I buy any Armour/Weapons i need and my Guildies normally supply me with better. But making Bombs and clicky effects help allot, seeing as im on a PvP server.

Not saying you should switch almost every warrior is a Blacksmith, I play with a Priest 99% of the time who is a Herbalist. The potioins are worth there weight in gold. You get armor,RAGE,underwater breathing, health and a crap more. I am level 41 and 243 in Blacksmithing. Without much effort at all I have always stayed above my level in Blacksmithing. I had plate armor for myself ready before I could ever use it. If you started out from day 1 with Blacksmith it would be great, but now trying to farm low level area's for copper and tin to raise your BS skill will be annoying to say the least. Half the time I try and get a mine someone else is after it also. I would never change my profesion, but if I were you I would make the most of it there is always a need for potions. Once you make a piece of armor and it is given to someone they don't need more unlike potions. BTW the herbs can sell for a lot also. Not to mention if you make potions and put them in auction.

I'm a 245 Blacksmith/Miner, and I actually regret taking blacksmithing...What I should have done was mining/<some other gathering skill>. After doing the entire mithril order series of quests, all I can say is that I would be overflowing with gold had I not used up all those mithril/truesilver bars =( And seriously, the cost to make rare items is not often bested by the price it's sold. You can get better dropped items.
