Hunter and Pally, good combo?Follow

#1 Jan 06 2005 at 1:02 PM Rating: Decent
My wife is running a lvl 20 hunter. I'm trying to find a job to complement her. So far I've tried Priest..The lack of armor and almost instant death from unexpected respawnds has dwindled my ambitions for her. Next I tried Druid...I've yet to master when to shapeshift and when to just fight in normal form (and it's literally killing me), also the no quick heal is hurting us too. She does have better armor than the priest though. I was thinking Pally for heal and armor, also I woundn't have to shapeshift to do real damage. Please write me back some opinions. Thanks

I agree with this decision. For me having a "magic" user is only a extra Plus, as a hunter. But with a Tank, I can take on the world.

My boyfriend and I are paladin and hunter (both lvl 20 and dwarves -- i'm the hunter), and have leveled together from day one. We've found we're an excellent team. He and my pet go in close and tank, while I pull and stand back to do most of the damage to the mob. His buffs, heals and other spells are extremely useful as well. We can take on tough mobs and elites no problem. So I think playing a paladin to complement your wife's hunter job is an excellent idea :)

This is a good idea. I'll restate it the way I've said it before: The pld keeps me alive with his heals, my pet keeps him alive by tanking adds, and I deal out the damage that the pld can't. Though I don't believe that a pld should stand back and heal while the hunter does all the damage, their strenghts do balance out a hunter's weaknesses.

I've seen others do this with a warrior for more damage and a warrior has nice buffs as well, but you do lose the healing. This combo is set up to kill more quickly with the warrior still tanking.

A rogue for heavy damage with your wife's pet as tank might be a nice change up. This duo definitely does a hell of a lot of damage. You should be able to roll through mobs this way.

Another hunter would be nice. Having 2 pets to take hate is great. A warlock is kinda like having anoter hunter, except with the ability to polymorph adds.

Or a mage, which would be damage like a rogue.

All of these will work, and work well, you just have to adjust the way you pull and fight a little with each combo. It just depends on the way you want to play. Try different things and just do what is fun to you. One of the major plusses about WoW is the way the classes are excellently balanced so there are no "uber" cookie cutter party/duo setups. Just have fun.

The mage or pally is the best combo with hunter, in my opinion. The mage deals out some crazy damage, but with this you are relying on your pet only to tank. That is a lot of risk, but you will slaughter the mob so fast. With the pally you get the great buffs, which increase the hunters damage even more. You also get the healing, which helps out in emergency. Last you get a great tank, which will defenitly hold out until the mob is dead. The rogue is more of a solo type in my opinion. So pally is the best choice for you and your wife.

hmm i havent grouped with pallys much except in larger than 2 groups.

I do group with a warrior a lot, and find it works really well (he holds group agro better). He plays in defensive stance and taunts etc to hold it once my bear gets low, i mend pet and then he does something that loses all agro but a specific mob. Also against magic based mobs, his shield bash + my vipersting stop and then prevent any problems there.

rogues are also good, because pretty much no matter what your fighting, hunters and rogues can pull out if they have to. other classes cant aswell. bear tanks, rogues deals great dmg melee, you deal great dmg range.

one thing i must say though, is that i prefer grouping with mages/warlocks, and whatever other classes who sit back abit if i dont know the person im grouping with. I hate looters, and i find rogues/fighters/paladins who loot everything they see can always get to it before you unless you reduce your dmg output to run in just before the mob dies.

sure they leave things there they dont want, but its like someone else opening your presents at xmas time.

lol, I guess Pally/Hunter is the most popular "couples" duo. Me=Hunter, wife=Pally.....

And we have never solo'd, been a party from Day 1 and we rock the world. We are now level 13 (we just started Friday) and are easily handling Black Bear Patriarch's in Loch Modan, even if we get adds. Great combo.
