hi, i am very interested in hunter, i play ffxi ranger level 70 ifrit, and i was wondering, is it close to the hunter role? the role in ffxi was damage dealer. and thats what im looking for, plus i love using guns in ffxi so im excited that you can start with one here ahaha. and is it very expensive? i dont mind if it is, but ranger on ffxi was ridiculously expensive haha. is it good for pvp? im also interested in testing out my character for pvp

what are the best racesto play hunter?

thanks ^^

Best way to describe it is a BST/RNG. Take all the cool stuff about BST, some of the cool stuff from RNG and there ya go. Its really a differenct experience and there is a lot more flexibility. As far as cost goes, no its fairly cheap. Its not a grind for everything type game, you make more than enough money of of drops to pay for bullets or arrows and then some. I usually have to stock up every 5 levels or so depending on how much melee i get in, but this is a completely different job than ranger.

It is DD, but you have a pet as well as a gun to do damage.

and for proffesions, do skinning/leatherworking OR mineing/enginering. they both are great and u can make stuff. (like bulets, armor, etc, for yourself :)

Djmerlin,

I played a Beastmaster on FFXI, but only took it to 15th level and played a Ranger but only to 7th level.

I loved them both in FFXI, but that game didn't "Do it" for me.

WoW took the best of Beastmaster and added a little ranger for its very own Job class that pleases me to no end.

The Hunter is a fantastic class to play if you like group or soloing. Adventure is never far away when playing a Hunter.

Tips:

Learn cooking at level 5 as well as your other trade skills.

Cooking is fundemental for your pet, in early levels it isn't so much an issue, but as I've leveled I found that a well cooked dish keeps your pet happier for longer than a raw hunk of who cares.
Be nice to your pet, they are one of your best resources.

Good hunting!

P.S. if you should find yourself on silerhand give me a whisper I may be able to help you out. =)
