I'm wondrering if anyone knows how the XP points for pets work.

1. Is it based on the the pet's level versus the mob that is being killed?

or

2. Is it a proportion of the XP that I receive from killing a mob?

Example:

I'm a 28 Hunter, and I charm a level 15 pet. Now, I want to level him as fast as possible. So will he get XP if i just tear thru a bunch of level 17-20 mobs, or do I need to fight mobs that I get XP as well?

it seem like the same as pt.
it will get exp. low exp but still some exp.

and don't bother geting that low mob for a pet. get even level or 1 level below you.

the pet will only get exp when the pet level is the lower then your level.

Just to add to that ...your pet will not however gain any experience you gain off of quests, otherwise you gtes what you get for exp if he is lower level than you.
