I'd like to get your thoughts on this. Why do we have a 30mins cooldown on this spell? I can live with the reagent that we need to cast it but why the 30mins?? Shamans have Ancestral Spirit that allows them to resurrect people at any time but not druids. Don't tell me that druids are "backup" healer because shamans are also, priests are the main one.

thx.

Well you answered your own question.

The whole concept of Druid is that it can do pretty much everything but can't do anything as well as any other class can (other than buff with MOTW, which is prob the best buff in the game). So we have a 30 minute cooldown on our rez spell, as compared with shamans and pallys and priests. It could be shorter, I agree. Remember, don't really compare shamans with druids, they should really be compared with priests because they are the priests for the Orcs and Tauren so for those two races they are the *primary* healer .. therefore it makes sense for them to be able to rez more effectively than the Druid does. What makes less sense is the fact that paladins can rez as efficiently as priests can, but that is an issue for a different discussion.

You guys are forgetting a few very important points. Our Rebirth is the only raise spell in the game that can be cast while in combat. Our raise also heals for more than half of the target's health and mana while raises from other classes heal for nothing.

The reason for the long recast time is that we get quality over quantity. We get an awesome raise that has the potential to eliminate downtime in the case of an accidental death. Rather than wait till after battle to raise the tank and have the rest of the melee try to grab hate which they are unequipped for, you can cast Rebirth on the tank and have him tank immediately again and with sufficient health as well. Others get a raise that they can fritter away as much as they want on people, but they can only do it after battle and only heal for like 3% health and mana, meaning that once that tank is gone in battle, he is gone until the bitter end of it and then some.

Yes, you may not be able to be a raise-*****, but why would you ever want to be? If you need to raise your party a lot then you probably won't get to the end of an instance anyways. No one should ever really need to die, but it happens, and that's what Rebirth is for. Emergencies are emergencies, and shouldn't be happening often. Maybe once every thirty minutes...

Don't think of this spell as gimped in any way. The reason for the long cast time is because Rebirth is the most powerful raise in the entire game. Don't pretend that Druid is a gimped form of other classes. We rule.

I personally think it's because of PvP.

It's castable in combat, with about 1/2 to 3/4 of both bars filled.

Plenty of times in group vs. group PvP, I raise the rogue or shammy, and they turn the tide. It's basically an extra person on your team.

If I could cast it at will... well, I could raise someone every time I popped a mana pot, about once a minute. I could raise 2 or 3 people after using Innervate. All at a decent combat potential... during mid fight.

I also suppose you could make an arguement about PvE... Mage out of mana, mage suicides, you raise him, giving him almost as much MP as you spent.... making Rebirth a "poor man's Innervate", I suppose.

Idk... I just know it's annoying, spending it on random corpses I see laying around... and finding they logged off after they died ;_;
