What am I doing wrong?Follow

I know the title is begging to be mocked with a "You just suck," but I'm really dying here. Literally. I have a level 30 Druid and I just can't do much. For some reason I'm always the one targeted. Maybe it's my bad luck, but I see I'm getting attacked by 3 guys, what do I do? Cast rejuv and go into bear form. I know they just "fixed" bear form, but for some reason I'm still dying. I just cant seem to do enough damage quickly enough, and I get dazed like CRAZY all the time. I have pretty low armor, apparantly. I have only about 577 armor (779 with improved mark). I usually travel around with a paladin friend, so it becomes about 900+ with Devotion Aura. I've gotten up to about 1700+ in bear form. This seems not to do an awful lot. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I think it might be my weapon. I still use Smite's Mighty Hammer that I got in the Deadmines. 19.7 DPS, +11 Strength, +4 Agility, 3.50 Speed. I think that speed is killing me. What do you guys think?

if your the main tank in bear form, then just cast thorns on yourself. thorns = mana efficient dot. you sould START the battle with rejuvinate. if you start to die, just back off and heal yourself, cast another rejuv and go back into your feral form. if you die doing this, then im pretty sure your gear is a bit out dated; spam easy kills for cashable items and get yourself to the auction.

I feel yer pain ... but there's a bit of a trick I use. I also spend most of my party time with a paladin, and I get hate fairly easy ((I'm the puller and moonfire+fairie fire seems to make monsters mad at me)). Druid's armor's just not as good as theirs, so my health tends to plummet fast. So if I'm getting too much attention from the monster, I go into Cat Form and use Cower, which (most of the time, if it doesn't get resisted, dodged, or miss) will turn that monster right onto the pally. Then I go back into Caster form ... or just stay in Cat form and beat the crap outta the monster! Usually if we have more than one monster on us, I choose bear form since it has aoe attacks and more defense. My paladin friend is pretty good about keeping me healed if I've got lots of monsters on me in bear form. We pretty much beat the crap outta everything that way. But anyway, try cowering if yer getting too much monster love!! See where that takes you ... but I guarantee there's still a lot of death in your future. It's the way of the druid! ^.^;;

Couple random thoughts:

- improve your ac, I'm lvl 32 with MotW have over 1,100 and in bear form over 2,100 - I'm all eq I made using leatherworking. If you don't have leatherworking find a friend that does. (all cloth armor rocks if you want high mana pool)

- decide how much mana you want. Basic at around 32 is around 1600 I can usually fight two 30th lvl mobs back to back with only spells before running out...spells + bear you basically never run out

- personally I think stam + Int are the most important stats at low lvl, agl is useful if you stay in caster form mostly (doesnt translate that well in bear but great for cat) and spirit obviously rocks but our mana pools so small regen rates dont make that big of a difference.

- practice your healing, casting your strongest heal spells in 100% sure to pull the mob on you. My advice heal early and use your smaller heal spells, less mana efficient but you'll die less (save large heals for when you really need them - nothing worse as tank or rogue and not being healed till you at 30% of hps)

- rejuv + regen stack - plus one of them is instant cast, druids healing strengths are in these spells - our actual heal spells stink compared to other class (slow casting + too much mana + aggro) cast them early on your warrior and he should never hav to worry

- paladin druid duo rocks, pallie heals just as well as you....personally skip the bear and use cat...when you get cower the pallie druid combo works even better

- druids two toughest issues: aggro mgmt + mana mgmt - just need lots of practice on the later....former not sure there is any way around

- try not to use heal spells on yourself - carry around potions at all time, depending on hp/mana pool. One potion is basically instant cast 100% heal.

- when you can take a look at the dwarven mage staffs of whatever, they rock as low 30s druid weapons think im using one that is +6int +6 stam....always for sale at auctions...

I totally agree with earlier comment you will get beat-up on...all the time. There has yet to be an instance I haven't complained about not having any aggro mgmt method (cat + cower excluded). That said druids are hands down the best class when @#$% hits the fan. And once you find your rhythm things really start picking up. You will die a lot there is no way around it, just make sure others don't and all will be well.

You only have 577 armor at level 30?? I think thats your problem.
Check my profile (at the very bottom in my sig), I have almost as much armor as you at level 22. I can see if your going all stats, but you also need good armor or you will get pwnd. Then again don't go full-armor and neglect your stats, because thats just as bad. Try to balance it out a bit.

Well I wouldn't say armor is ALWAYS the issue when you get raped over and over. It all depends on your style of play, and by that i mean, are you a party type or a loner. People just need to learn how to manage hate in WoW. Ok so you dont have a tech like provoke in FFXI, but keep in mind that some techs generate hate more than others. Most of the time, it's more useful to do "extend" your damage dealing. Don't go all out on a mob and on healing. Yes your party mates can survive even if they are under 50% HP, you just need to learn how to time yourself. I personnaly love to do all of my spells before commencing the combat, even if i know they wont last 'till the end of the fight. Maybe your mates won't have healing for the second half of a fight, but they will still be rocking after the first half, so healing should be less important at a point. As a druid, I always try to get another healer, to really be just a back up for any healer, even if its another druid.
