I hear a lot of people saying that they have buffed MoTW in their talent section "right away!", before anything else they do talent wise. I can see why they might do it. 35% to the "best buff of all the classes" is hella tight and should have all 5 talent points put into it right away, right? Wrong. Putting talent points into your MoTW before rank 4, even 5 is near useless. Let me explain.

Heck, I don't even really need to explain, just look at each stat in the early ranks of MoTW (1-4) multiplied by 35%, the effect that you get with Enhanced MoTW maxed to 5 in the talent tree.

Rank 1 (non sensical, you don't even have talent points)

Armour : 27 (+ 9.45) = 36

Rank 2

Armour : 70 (+ 24.5) = 94
Stats : 2 (+ 0.7) = 2

Rank 3

Armour : 112 (+ 39.2) = 151
Stats : 4 (+ 1.4) = 5 (...meh)

Rank 4 (ok, here we go)

Armour : 160 (+ 56) = 216
Stats : 6 (+ 2.1) = 8
Resist : 5 (+ 1.75) = 6

As you can see, for 35% to actually do something it must have a big number from which to work. From what I gather, the number will not round up, but down. So, at rank 2 MoTW, you are not getting an extra point added to each stat, only a little more armour. With Rank 3 you will get an extra Stat point, but an extra 5 points diffused out doesn't make a big deal (2 * 5 = 10 extra rank points compared to 3 * 5 = 15 extra rank points...it looks like a lot, but it isn't). At rank 4, things start to get interesting. You will get 2 extra points added to each stat, meaning that instead of having 6 * 5 = 30 extra stat points, you have 8 * 5 = 40 extra stat points, which WILL make a dent in your performance and make other people spooge when they get it. On top of that you will get +1 to all stat resistances, making the grand total 6 resistance instead of 5 (theres that "meh" again).

IMO rank 4 MoTW is when our "best buff of all the classes" really starts to come into its own. The base number buffs that it gives (160 armour, 6 all stats, 5 resistance) are big enough to justify it as spendable for talent points and worth that +35% (barely). Rank 4 MoTW comes at Level 30 along with some other cool things like travel form.

Since its prime comes at 30, don't be hasty to spend your talent points on Enhanced MoTW unless you are following Restoration; and even if following Restoration, Furor is nice. Instead, try to focus on a talent that is more useable for your level of 10-26 (you can save the last 5 points for MoTW once you ding 30).
There are some great talents out there that you can get early if you go for them fast and skip the MoTW enhancment.

By spending points in talents that are meaningful to your performance AT YOUR LEVEL you will find that you are much more effective at your job. Getting good abilities early helps, like getting that rage or energy upon shapeshifting, or that Frenzy or Fury that builds points/rage, or that Omen of Clarity.

You are free to play the job however you see fit. If you feel that you need to listen to people that say "ENHANCE MoTW AS SOON AS YOU CANZORZ!!111" then by all means go ahead and spend it. But if you want to play so that you are your most effective, then save those points for later.

fyi, it rounds up. Yeah, I know. big difference :P

But yes, it gets more valuable as you level up, but you grab it early for 2 other reasons.

1: the other 'beginner' talent in Restoration is the one that gives you a chance at gaining rage when shifting to bear. Not really that handy, it's like one ability's worth of rage... unless you're also spec'd feral.

2: You really want to reach tier 2 restoration talents, if only for the 'heal interruption decrease' skill. This has saved my life on SO many occasions, it's not even funny.

I really don't remember how I functioned as a healer w/out it. It's that good. It let's me use healing touch instead of regrowth while soloing, and let's me function in instances when I pull healer's aggro.

Anyways, to reach tier 2 restoration, you need 5 points in restoration first. Might as well think long term and take MoTW.
