Hello,

FFXI was my first MMPORG, and I still have noe uninstalled it. Me and my wife play togather... but we bought, and installed WOW tonite, so I am really new.

From what I have read, I am thinking that I might try Warlock.

My first character I created today is an un-dead priest, lvl 3 ATM. What I am wondering is:

1. From what I understand, horde/alliance mebers can never party togather? Is this true?. Does that mean I can never party w/ ... PLD's and the like?

2.It seems that Warlocks are similiar to Summoners, ...kind of. Do you Warlocks find this to be true?

3.So far, what race do you think fits the Warlock best? (I am not looking for perfection in race/class) only, your opinions.

Thank you all for any replies.

I guess nobody posts on the weekend, LOL.

This morning before work I started my warlock (goin hume). After approx 2 hours, I am a lvl 4, w/ a imp (w00t!).

I still do not know if later on I can party w/ horde members, but I hope we (alliance members) can.

Also, I hope to discover where I can get a staff. Still have not found the AH, but I am sure I will.

So far, having fun. Good day all. ^-^

Hello Texas Jedi, I was/am in the same situation as you and I will try to answer your questions to the best of my ability. I have a friend on my server you is a level 28 Warlock and I see him for alot of my question's and he has been very accurate.

1. I dont believe think the Ability for Horde members and The Alliance get group together. Logically it would not make sense to have them party together. The Undead wish to destroy the Humans, and the last thing you expect is to see a Night Elf hanging out with an Undead.

2. Ah the reason I went to Warlock in WoW is because I felt they were closley releated to Summoner, they are in a sense. The abilities of the pets are alot less confusing and the pets are alot more aimed to one style than in FFXI. In FFXI the pets had a range of abilities, in this game your Voidwalker is going to almost always stick to defensive type skills while the Succubus will be offensive. The Warlock is no doubt an AMAZING debuff style RDM. I think i higher level party and raids that will be our main priority because we get Curses and loads of DOT's. The pets are great, but I believe DOT's are going to help you in the long run.

3. This game is alot like FFXI in the respect that the races will make less impact on the class as time goes on. I think the Undead are probally the best race for Warlock. I personally think Undead because of the basic high mana regeneration charge decent health and above average mana. The Gnomes will have better mana but their overall defense and Hit Points would be hard to deal with when you want to solo. This is my own opinion, feel free to experiment with any race as you like.

The information expressed here is my opinion. If you feel there is something here that you have found to be true as well than feel free to post. Were all here to help.

I'm also a warlock and a FFXI refugee, there seems to be a lot of us. In FFXI terms, warlocks are Black Mages who specialize in DoT spells and have the ability to summon pets. We get five different types of pets. One of them, the voidwalker, is an excellent tank and makes a great solo partner. You will NEVER be partying with members of the other faction. Unlike FFXI other factions will be extremely hostile to you even in PvE servers there is a chance you could get killed by another player (if you both agree to fight that is.) Warlocks can do great damage once you start stacking our DoTs, and like the Allah blurb at the top of the page says, it is a fun if a bit complex class to play.

Also, you're not playing a Japanese game anymore so don't post stupid **** like "^-^" in here.

Sir Tautic,

Thanks so much for the replies..... /salute

More newb questions...

1. I am not familiar with armor. Many of the pieces I have say "Worn tunic-cloth-3". I guess the number always refers to the level at wich you can equip the item? (I am used to FFXI where it says 1. at what lvl you can use, 2. the DEF of it...)
Any guidance would be appreciated.

2. When I speak to imp trainer, I notice there is ALOT of upgrades available. To you high lvl Warlocks, did you find them all necesary? or is there some that are in your opinion skippable? Aslo, is there any guides to RANK yet?

3. I want to use a staff. I asked another player (think she was a 12 mage) when can I get a staff? she said that she got hers at character creation, but that I would have to train in that first before I could eqip.... so... where can I get a staff, and did are YOU finding staffs useful? (its weird that a warlock would even start w/ a dagger IMO, LOL, but anywho...)

4. Is there only one AH per region? I have been to two towns, and have not found one. Also, is there an equivalent of a mog house? Has to be a storage plave besides what you carry around w/ you.... Lastly, I am getting lots of candles drops. Are theese for a later quest? I played FFXI for at least 3 weeks before I learned that orc axes were for a quest, and that rabbit hides/bats were for fame...and that earth crystaks stacked, and given to gurads helped you out in long run to...LOL.

If someone (esp. higher lvl Warlocks) ccould share thier opinions, I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks, and good day!

There's storage slots for you in the bank. Also, as a general rule, you wont get quest drops unless you have the quest that requires them activated. As for armor, unless it specifically says "REQUIRES LEVEL X" in the description you can wear it at any level. As for spell ranks, always upgrade as soon as you can.
