Hey everyone! how are ya? I'm just wondering what Profession you decided to take up, why you decided to take it, and your opinion on that profession for your rogue?

Personally I choose Herbalism/Alchemy, why? well.. because it's nice to have a potion that gives you +15 Strength, or +350 Armor.. for an hour... or a potion that gives you unlimited breath for so long underwater... I enjoy it... also it's nice in battles with an instant drink that refills life.. hehe

and I think it's very helpful personally.. I can always find herbs... with the tracking skill it's fun! so what did you decide and for what reason..?

Also.. quick question.. is taking up Bows/Arrows a good idea? it sounds pretty fun...

Take care all!

btw.. Night Elf Rogue -Shattered Hand- Eastern* and that is Liable to change.. for I'm unsure about my favorite race..

I like the idea of being an alcamist, but I went the leather working skinning combo. My uncle also plays and hes a mage clothworker, so we have 2 jobs covered. To compensate for the potions I took up fishing because usually there is a body of water somewhere where you can pull a quick stack of fish and have decent health recovery items.

I went engineering and enchanting

why?

Well, I wanted to be able to throw bombs at people ( hence engineering ) though I can make dynomite I have no clue of how to use it yet. I also wanted to make and sell ... mechanical chickens.... ( yes chickens, I'm crazy like that ). And then .. enchanting so I can .. get those nice glows on my weapons and boost all my armour stats...

I'm going for all out dmg with my rogue and looked for the 2 Professions I though would help me reach that goal

I went with skinning and minning.

I did this because I want to maximize my profits in the early levels and capitolize on the launching of a new game.

I was getting really great profit on leather and smithing materials in the 1st week because everyone was paying good money to buy the materials. Hopefully buy the time I can get my mount I will have enough gold.

I will probably go with engineering later in my career for the stun items as I want to focus on pvp.

Good luck!

Hey I think its like my sticky bottles I got from a quest. Dont think that is the correct name. But I right click the mob/humanoid and then right click on the sticky bottle in the inventory and that stuff appeared on the mob. Hope that works. My profession is Leather and Skinning my brother is alchemy so it helps he gives buffs and potions while I give him leather enhancements (hes a hunter).

I choose Herbalism/Alchemy. Reason? I tended to be a person who liked to fight something higher than my lvl, so i loved having something that could keep me up during the fight. Also, the + stat potion is great too!

I went with Herbalism/Alchemy, as I also have a Warlock with Skinning/Tailoring. This way I have good use in both chars, and they can cross items at need. Need a 10-slot bag? No problem.

i went herbalism/alchemy, and boy do i use a lot of those potions (i also give em out to my guild members). Run into a couple of snags tho: lately, i havent found a lot of flowers to pick (either for skillups or for recipes), and i only have 1 new recipe, Elixer of Wisdom, which gives me good skillups and i can give to my mage friends, but it doesn't help me at all, and the ingredients (Mageroyal and Briarthorn) i need for other recipes. Hopefully one of these days ill come across some agility potion recipes and some better healing potion recipes.

I am getting WoW for Christmas and plan to go Fishing/Cooking.

I noticed that none of you have chosen Fishing, and that concerned me a little. Since I have no first-hand experience with the game yet, I hope you will be able to tell me why no one has chosen my combo?

-Fishing up chests should help my lockpicking skill.

-Cooking my fish will hopefully give me some good support in/after battles.

-Last but not least, I will be able to enjoy the environment and escape from levelling/reality while I fish in different beautiful locations.

I know that there are certain things that I am not aware of yet, so hopefully some of you can point out any flaws in my reasoning.

Fishing isn't really a profession in WoW, it's something everyone can do and it doesn't count towards your two profession maximum. As for cooking the fact that you can only eat food after fights to regen health kind of turned me off.

I also picked Herbalism / Alchemy, mostly because i assumed that i'd need herbalism in order to get the items i'd need for poisons, and i didn't want to have huge stacks of useless herbs until level 20. I did however go skinning for a short time to help a friend, and i've found that to be extremely easy to level up. I got up to 80 in skinning in about four hours sitting in the newbie area outside Ironforge.

Alchemy for potions and being able to maximize my buffs and dmg output.

Enchanting to be able to setup my guild with "glow" weapons and stat boosting, also enchanting is the most challenging craft as well as the most expensive. So I should be able to make quite a nice bit of gold once I get to 200+ enchanting and start selling off enchants in cities.

On my Hunter I took skinning/leather so I can make my hunter and rogue armor for any lv and at 40 still be able to create some mail armor for hunter.

I am having a hell of a time to lv alchemy atm, due to very little herbs ever being sold on the AH. I will probably be forced to open a third character and lv him up exclusivly for herb gathering. We will see.. as I really do not want to do that.

Thanks for clearing up that fishing issue!

I now plan to go (like a lot of you) Herbalism/Alchemy. I was also interested in Enchanting but it seems that Herbalism will make levelling Alchemy much easier.

I will probably take up Enchanting on another character, and support it with my Rogue as best I can.

Hehe, I'm still laughing from funny posts I saw. One was about Enchanting/Engineering, lol. That's pretty funny. If you do any profession, you really need to choose the respective gathering profession to go along with it, unless of course you do Tailoring/Alchemy, since cloth drops off mobs and you can buy the other random materials you need. Otherwise, you absolutely must pick a manufacturing/gathering profession or you will lose money and it won't be worth it. Do NOT do Engineering/Enchanting, that's the single worst idea I've ever heard of. Sorry for flaming, but I don't want you to gimp your character by wasting money like this.

As for what profession I chose. This was difficult. Rogues really have three very viable choices. There's Skinning/Leatherworking, Herbalism/Alchemy, and Mining/Engineering. All of the other possible combinations really don't help a rogue out too much.

Skinning/Leatherworking is great because you can make very good armor with it. Having upgraded armor is always a good thing and both PvP and PvE. However, this combo will not have a profoud nor noticeable effect on your battles. You will gain an advantage from having updated armor with +stats and AC, but it is not really noticable nor is it flashy.

Alchemy/Herbalism is an excellent choice for any class in this game. Healing potions are probably the most used items in the game, and for good reason; an extra 600 health from a lvl 110 recipe is a big boost, especially isnce it is instant, and your enemy has no idea you have it. I would never recommend against this combination, as it's easy for new players, very easy to take advantage of, and herbalism is a simple gathering profession.

Last is engineering/mining. This is the profession I chose, because engineers have many gadgets available to them. New players wouldn't and shouldn't ever choose this profession, as it involves the most complicated gathering skill, and the second most complicated manufacturing skill (enchanting is the most complicated). However, a rogue gains many benefits from this profession. Goggle are cool, and are worn on the head, so having them when you need a good headset is certainly an excelent thing. AoE stun effects from grenades and bombs are by no means battle changing, but they can do some extra damage to a good group of enemies, as well as disorient them for a few crucial seconds. Guns/ scope, and bullets help b/c they are valuable to other players and you can even do decent damage with them at range yourself. Last, engineering is wayyy cool. Mechanical Dragonlings, Gnomish Battle Chicken, and, the all powerful, Gnomish Net-o-Matic. Rogues have no real snare technique and this one seals the deal. Very annoying when you're snared by a rogue, because you're dead. Anyway, thanks for reading, and enjoy this amazing game.
